At the risk of sounding like a moron, can someone describe how the ZDT compares to the regular ZD in regards to sound (for single ended). I know one is SET and one OTL, but as someone with little tube knowledge I'm not sure what to make of that. My understanding of SET amps is they work better...

The enigma deepens. Just got this response via email from Jack: "We have never used 6922 in place of EZ80 for the WA4. These are completely different tubes. If you misused, the amp would be likely damaged. We have used 6X4 or 6Z4 for the WA4. These are the tubes you should be using."

That's what it came with. The last owner didn't provide any EZ80 and that's how he was using it. I subbed out the Tesla ECC88 for the 6922 that was in there and the problem has completely resolved and the amp sound great. So now what I have in is: Sovtek 6C19 x2 (back row, outside)...
