Your advice on a new headphone
Dec 17, 2012 at 11:12 AM Post #61 of 101
unfortunately in italy (and generally in europe) headphone prices are much higher that in the us. here i can't find a pair ok k181 for less than 135 euro.

so in a m80 vs k181dj , m80 should be the winner right ?

as for m80, how would you rate isolation and bass ? i read that it's a very neutral headphone, and bass isn't there too much...
for example compared to sony mdr-1r, sennheiser hd25 and dt1350.

i would love to get a pair of m100, as i prefer over the ear but unfortunately tey are too expensive

edit : @phooy1

when you say good at bass, on what scale they are good ? yes as you said i love bass, and i am comming from xb500 and v700dj so i expect something that will give at least 70-80% of that ammount of bass that i'm used to.

let's say xb500 is 10/10 for bass in our fictionnal scale and v700dj is a 9/10. what will dt770 and v80 be ?

ok guys i've just found a pair of m80's at 110 euro shipped, like new and the cheapest dt770 stays at 140 euro shipped.... so what do you say ?

also from who wons m80, does it give even more quality/bass if amped with e6 or e11 ?

Hey the M-80 has as much bass as the HD25 and has better extension. It has more of a bass punch than the DT1350, which is quite a detailed neutral headphone.

I find the M-80 and K181 to both be on par SQ wise, but the M-80 has better durability and portability IMHO. I think you would enjoy the M-80s and that's a pretty good asking price.

hope to love them

but what made me choose m80 over dt770 really was the price.
the one's i took were listened less than 2 hours according to the seller that received them as a gift and didn't like them... 40 euro difference are a lot, that i can invest maybe in an amp if needed (but i read that m80 amped sound less good, is that possible ? ) and iem

Yes, it is possible to sound less good when amped. However, this situation is very rare. It's mainly because of the output impedance or the amp make too much changes to a pair of headphone that causes it to change it's sound signature.

40 euro + 30 euro = 70 euro...get a better IEM instead :D

To be honest to you, Sennheiser does not make good low-end headphone. They are better off audiophile headphone not consumer. Therefore, CX300 & 400 are definately out of your list

Where as JVC makes good consumer freindly product! XD JVC HA-FX1X has strong build quality with extreme bass & treble. Between these two is/are the mids that is recessed.

As for Philips side, SHE3580 and cut out the others Philips you had listed :) Check out the review here http://www.head-fi.org/t/561951/philips-she3580-iem-review-how-can-something-sound-so-good-for-10 I like this guy review XD

Now would be SHE3580 VS JVC HA-FX1X eh? lol :D
