Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

Thanks for your opinions. I've been trying to get used to Complys but I feel like I lose clarity with them on compared to triple flanges. Definitely give the olives a try, when i'm free enough to go get them.

The one thing that really makes me want to get an upgrade is the memory of the stock cable. It is never straight. I have no idea why. Kinda irritating if you ask me.

And right, getting a Mini3 soon enough.

It is taking AAAAAAAAGES to get my TF10's re shelled, I'll be totally unimpressed when I get them since I have been using sennheiser HD650's for the past month :frowning2:

Hey, at least you'd be able to carry the customs around with you.  So don't feel too bad when it doesn't rank up to the sonic excellence that is a hi-fi open headphone. :p

Just ordered Null Audio cable and very excited to put them on

Also, would re-shelling them to customs(1964 ears) be better or should I just order the 1964-T customs?

The 1964-T are a different sound signature than the TF10s. They're much flatter, where the TF10s have more emphasis in the bass and treble ends. I love them both, but for different reasons.

Unless you have a problem with fit, I'm not sure there's a huge advantage to re-shelling the TF10s, unless you go to UM and add drivers and such. 1964 will match the signature before and after (I asked them), so all you're getting is an improved fit and maybe some more isolation.

I may reshell mine at some point, because the custom fit is good and hey, it makes them v/ individual, but it's not a high priority,.

Well after flirting a bit with a UM3x, I am back on Team Triple Fi, with Lune Cable.  I found the UM3x instrument separation to be amazing, but like the RE252, I found it boring at times.  I also missed the TF sparkle and sizzle and great airy soundstage.

Not to threadjack here, but I found that the UM3X responds very well to EQing. I was able to get a similar sound (sparkly highs) by just EQing up the treble slightly (or even using the iPod's Treble Boost EQ setting).

I wanted to re-shell them because of looks.  Seeing all those custom iems on facebook really insured me of getting them done.  My only gripe to my TF10 is that they are HUGE.  I do get a good seal but they kinda feel unwieldy on my ears especially coming from Shure SE210, Super fi 4, and Klipsch S4.

personally i'd just order the 1964-T for the bargain entry price of $350 & sell the TF10s. once u reshell them, forget bout reselling. thats what i'd do if i were spending my coin.
