Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

TF10 has the most awkward fit.  When I move I can hear the sound change.  It's because the way it's built, it will not stay put like a Shure iem for example.  That's a huge problem as it will change the sound drastically bringing down the SQ because of this.

Agreed, tf10's fit can only be described as atrocious. That many people find it fits better when worn reversed is only further proof of this.

It is indeed a technological marvel when it came out.  What other universal was out at the time with crossovers with mutitple speaker?  Ety has microphonics, but Shure had the ergonomics and fit covered. TF10 is a great sounding iem for the price, and with a Shure like fit, it would help out immensely.  Did Shure or Westone own the rights to the way their fit is?

Something I want to add is that although Shure has the ergonomics, it's always been single bore.  TF10 has 2 bores to separate the lows and the mids/highs.  I'm thinking this may have contributed to the awkward fit design. UE has the patents to multiple bore design by JH.

I love the triple Fi sound but the fit is terrible for doing anything active. Got mine reshelled and I've been working out with them for about 4 years now

Any noticeable changes to the sound?  Did the sound get more detailed or more clarity?  More tight? Imaging differences? I'm guessing the customs has 2 bores.  Just curious what customizing does to it's signature.

I noticed with the Reshell the bass was slightly deeper and more extended, and mids came forward slightly. I've had stock and reshelled TF10s to A&B. That's with very critical listening, otherwise they sounded the same. I have seen other users report the same in some instances.

My experiences of reshelling my TF10's closely mirror yours, except that Phil at Cosmic Ears added a dynamic driver for me to bolster bass performance.

I still find the TF10 very slightly 'mid shy', but certainly don't regret getting them reshelled.

Cosmic do a straight reshell for £100

It's gone up to £125 recently.

Which is the most popular cable for UE TriFi 10 right now? I've used two stocks and FiiO RC-UE2 which all three of them broke after 3~4 months usage.

Doing a bit of research shows variety of cables starting from self-named cables in ebay to "professional" cables running $100+. I mean, just to pick a few...

- http://www.null-audio.com/collections/iem-headphone-cable/products/lune-series-mkiii-premium-upgrade-cable-for-earphones
- http://www.moon-audio.com/moon-audio-silver-dragon-v1-iem-triple-fi-upgrade-headphone-cable.html#
- And heaps more on ebay

Any suggestions?

This was the best sounding cable I used on TF10.

No but I did abused it quite brutally - scrunching it, stuffing inside tight space, dropping it, pull it etc etc... mostly happens during workout sections. Is it suppose to be sturdy?

Oh and I only owned one as the other two were stock ones.

So you're suggesting me to get RC-UE2 again?

in such case...i will suggest you to stick with cheaper cable....or using fiio one....null audio or moon audio is more expensive but for sure wouldnt last what you have done :)

Hmm... Stocks are pretty ****ty as they're easy to break with minimal usage (I'm not an outlier as other people mentioned how stocks are so fragile).

Edit:  Actually no, forget FiiO as their micro phonics is pretty horrible.

I'm thinking of getting either:
- http://www.null-audio.com/collections/iem-headphone-cable/products/arete-series-mkii-replacement-cable-for-earphones
So far Lune is getting more positive reviews than Arete though the sheer price differences is just too great me to choose Lune over Arete.
