At this point nothing in particular, I am happy with what I have but I will always enjoy trying new stuff.

Did you sell Storm? Or did you not update your sig after receiving it?

I am looking for something to complement my Allegros. Either plain fun or super-technical. Or maybe both! I keep telling myself I am not looking for anything more but of course I keep looking and of course I keep inventing categories of sound signatures that I really need to have... That pretty much sums up this hobby for me! To quote Bob Weir - it's an obsession but it's pleasin'!

Yes I did 🦘. Excellent sounding IEM. I just can’t for the life of me get on with the soundstage and overall presentation, it’s not something I would enjoy at any price point unfortunately. If that’s what “speaker like” is then give me “IEM like” staging, something that can fill my head with music and I’d happily rebuy it. Unfortunately I just found it incredibly unengaging, to the point where I actually enjoyed using my A12t for something more exciting. When I push play I want to feel a sense of immersion with my music, Storm doesn’t present music that way.

I probably listened to it for about 15 hours since I got it. I tried different tips and all my sources/amp cards, it just was too far off what I find engaging. I was suggested to use a different cable, and I did have a demo OTL about to be sent to me, but I’m not comfortable spending another $2k-$3k when the IEM itself is already so expensive.

The JVC HA-SW01 arrived today - an interesting set, incredibly warm, possibly even ‘dark’ with very deep bass, lush mids and rolled off treble - a smooth, easy to listen to set, which like the FW1500, make me feel instantly relaxed, and I could listen for hours on end. In spite of the dark tuning, details are still nicely evident, I can hear all instruments in a current test track (Phoebe Bridgers - Scott Street) with good distinction on a reasonable sized stage - vocals sit slightly forward in the mix. The comfort matches the tuning, while I’ve only been listening maybe 30 minutes in this session, I don’t anticipate any fatigue for long sessions. I think these could be easily disliked by some as it’s a very unique tuning, especially to my ears anyway. Offers something very different to my small headphone collection, thanks for the opinion offered @Nostoi :) I should probably allow some burn in time…

Maybe you would like the new Sennheiser HD 660 S2? :)

I get true speaker-like experience with my TGX earbuds. It's rather shocking how these small drivers produce that effect, but to my ears, they do.

I haven't been by here in a bit or anywhere on head-fi due to a huge work project thats eaten my life for the past 3 months. I have been putting most of my money/time into my office 2 channel system but I am starting to get an itch to upgrade my portable system. Not sure if I am starting with the Hiby RS8 or the Noble Viking Ragnar but those are the next 2 purchases in the portable department.

Maybe I need to give earbuds another chance, but in the past, the earbuds I tried I always found two things... Very rolled off bass, and discomfort. Its possible I never listened to any quality earbuds, but that was my experience. I know you cant speak to my personal comfort, but what about bass? If the bass is rolled off and missing, theres nothing in the world that will make them engaging to me.

Earbuds can have legitimately good bass. Don’t let the old days scare you off. Get a cheap pair like FAAEAL Iris 2.0 for $8-10. If those fit okay, go for TGXear buds

It could be my own “incorrect” perception of what I expect from a speaker-like sound but I expected the staging to be very large and open sounding with accurate imaging. The imaging accuracy is there but the size isn’t on the Storm. I guess I just don’t care enough for the “accurate” stage size and I’d rather have something that sounds larger and more immersive instead. I’m not saying I want an out of head stage like the Elysian X, because that IEM sounds disjointed with its stage size, but I definitely struggle to find Storm enjoyable with the smaller size, it’s too much in the opposite direction for me personally.

I am looking forward to seeing what other people think when they receive theirs. It is an awesome IEM but at this price point (and even significantly less ones) I’m going to be extra critical relative to my own tastes.

My new favorite is my newly recablled EE EVO. It sounded great with the PWA 1950s, but I recabled it with a Plus Sound 4 wire Copper +. Great mids that I wasn't expecting.
Hey, Claud don't listen to those other people you have the cables in properly right now the way they are in the picture. Plussound cables have the screws facing out and logos facing in. If you don't believe me check with Christian at Plussound. :L3000::L3000: :beerchug:

Glad you received and glad you're enjoying them. I seem to recall they did benefit from burn in. In addition, if you do want to add some energy in the upper mids, I strongly recommend YAXI St Pad2.

Perfect counterpart to WP900 both aesthetically and in terms of tuning, I think. Enjoy!

I wasn't sure about fit and comfort either, so TGX actually sent me dummy examples of the normal MX shells and the bell shell, which I found to be the more comfortable.

I experience bass thru these in a far more powerful manner than my HD800S while also feeling that the tuning is better.

You do need to get a good fit to maintain the bass and avoid roll-off but most users seem to achieve that.

I’m less interested in TOTL sets at the moment, I’m always left somewhat disappointed versus lower price sets, and find diminishing returns make themselves very evident. I’ve given up on the idea of finding ‘the one’, as I honestly don’t believe it exists - I’m not seeking out the ultimate set that solves everything, because my library is just too diverse - as are my listening scenarios, which has led to a selection of specialists basically, and I love them all :)

I’m loving this phase of trying various sets, and I do think my headphone journey will further unfold this year - to include investing in a desktop solution…
