It could be my own “incorrect” perception of what I expect from a speaker-like sound but I expected the staging to be very large and open sounding with accurate imaging. The imaging accuracy is there but the size isn’t on the Storm. I guess I just don’t care enough for the “accurate” stage size and I’d rather have something that sounds larger and more immersive instead. I’m not saying I want an out of head stage like the Elysian X, because that IEM sounds disjointed with its stage size, but I definitely struggle to find Storm enjoyable with the smaller size, it’s too much in the opposite direction for me personally.

I am looking forward to seeing what other people think when they receive theirs. It is an awesome IEM but at this price point (and even significantly less ones) I’m going to be extra critical relative to my own tastes.
How many times you have tried to sell your CIEMs? :), maybe next time you need to spend more time with Universal first before go to custom.

Glad you received and glad you're enjoying them. I seem to recall they did benefit from burn in. In addition, if you do want to add some energy in the upper mids, I strongly recommend YAXI St Pad2.

Perfect counterpart to WP900 both aesthetically and in terms of tuning, I think. Enjoy!

Thank you, yes absolutely complementary to WP900 - in a similar way actually as the FW1500 is to the FW10000.

Now to ponder what’s next… you anchored ZMF in my head 😂 I did end up looking at them the other day…

What do CIEMs have to do with anything? I buy CIEMs when I enjoy a sound and want to keep listening to it without dealing with tips. When I no longer am interested in it I take the loss and move on. I never buy CIEMs to keep them forever.

The only CIEM I’ve sold that I didn’t spend that long with the universal was the FiR KR5.

The thing with ZMF is that they really come alive on tube amps, and the thing about tube amps is that only come alive when you tube roll.... Get ready for the next big adventure! 🤣

Yes I did 🦘. Excellent sounding IEM. I just can’t for the life of me get on with the soundstage and overall presentation, it’s not something I would enjoy at any price point unfortunately. If that’s what “speaker like” is then give me “IEM like” staging, something that can fill my head with music and I’d happily rebuy it. Unfortunately I just found it incredibly unengaging, to the point where I actually enjoyed using my A12t for something more exciting. When I push play I want to feel a sense of immersion with my music, Storm doesn’t present music that way.

I probably listened to it for about 15 hours since I got it. I tried different tips and all my sources/amp cards, it just was too far off what I find engaging. I was suggested to use a different cable, and I did have a demo OTL about to be sent to me, but I’m not comfortable spending another $2k-$3k when the IEM itself is already so expensive.

Honestly "speaker like" is kind of a meaningless phrase on its own. I can think of a half dozen IEMs I might classify that way but that all sound totally different due to all the different sorts of speaker setups and vantage points within those setups

I’m less interested in TOTL sets at the moment, I’m always left somewhat disappointed versus lower price sets, and find diminishing returns make themselves very evident. I’ve given up on the idea of finding ‘the one’, as I honestly don’t believe it exists - I’m not seeking out the ultimate set that solves everything, because my library is just too diverse - as are my listening scenarios, which has led to a selection of specialists basically, and I love them all :)

I’m loving this phase of trying various sets, and I do think my headphone journey will further unfold this year - to include investing in a desktop solution…

These days "TOTL" is about as vague a term as "speaker like" as there is so much that goes in to what counts as "TOTL".

Hey, Claud don't listen to those other people you have the cables in properly right now the way they are in the picture. Plussound cables have the screws facing out and logos facing in. If you don't believe me check with Christian at Plussound. :L3000::L3000: :beerchug:
I think you’ve miss read my post. You’re correct, the screws should be facing out but he has the left side going into the right earphone and vice versa… you can usually tell by how Christian has shaped part of the cable that goes around the ear (it should be facing up).

On non-custom cables this is usually indicated by right = red / left = blue

I get true speaker-like experience with my TGX earbuds. It's rather shocking how these small drivers produce that effect, but to my ears, they do.

Same.

That's true, but the right side cable is still on the left side iem, and same with the other side, in the picture.

Agreed. With Atrium and Caldera, though, I love them also with Solid State.

Indeed, that’s why as with always it’s best just to judge with your own ears. There will never be an IEM that’s for everyone. And for what it’s worth, I’ve spoken to a few Storm owners and a few people that have demo’d it also. Almost all of them have agreed the stage isn’t big, and for some people it’s part of a reason why they enjoy it so much. It’s just not for me.

What May draw one person in may turn another person away. I love the warmth of XE6 and it’s the exact reason why others hate it. Again, not a big deal at all. Life goes on. 😎

Survey thought: Those of you who are searching-- what are you searching for? Something specific, or just the thrill and excitement of the search?
I will have a new direction for my music listening need: I was running less and less and gained lots of weight recently, to keep active I just bought a Stage SB20 stationary bike (still waiting for delivery). Therefore, I am expecting hours of solo riding, potentially some IEMs to watch movies or TV shows? But for most of us, whether we admit or not, the thrill of excitment of the search itself is why we are here.

Thanks for the guidance. The PS cable has red for right and blue for left. I have changed them since the pic and will post another pic tomorrow so you guys can tell me if I still have it wrong. No R/L on these, unlike even most cheap Chinese IEMs.

Okay, that makes sense, since I was randomly browsing the classified, I saw your Ads.

I mean...it's both. I'm searching for that next level of WOW (If X is great at XXXX price, how good are Y at YYYY price?) The thrill of the hunt is fun too though. Research, conversations, reading about everything, comparing. It's fun.
