I'm happy it worked out for you. I tried the VE EXT for 2 weeks, also with every tip under the sun :) ... none worked for me. The Anni nozzles are fortunately not that large in diameter and the Anni ones are round while the EXTs are elliptic.

Are you using the CP100 or CP100 Plus? Maybe I'll also try them although I'm happy with the W1s.
Based on the color and the receipts they're CP100, but they have been in my tip bin for like 3 years lol

Your Preface alone was worth the read! Well done. Your descriptions throughout the review are both informative and entertaining. Love It!

Absolutely enjoyed the review bit by bit 🥰

And I must say, I concur with your findings in regards to Orpheus having a more upper-mid prominence compared to the Cardas Clear cable. But I interpret it as more clarity and transparency, rather than purposefully pushing forward the upper-mid vocals (like EA Centurion, for example).

I also agree that the Cardas Clear is more subbass focused. So I'd like to happily say our impressions align very well!!

I find this strange though, it is a $319 savings without the cable but you can buy the cable separately (for whatever reason) and the list price was $699 I believe. It doesn’t make sense.

I find it funny how it’s worth half the price now.

Time for some single DD goodenss....Nightjar Singularity in the house.

I first heard the Singularity in prototype form at CanJam NYC. It was a short demo but I liked it enough to commit to this premier edition of the IEM which has been landing in the hands of a few of us "early adopters" this week. Very early days but I'm loving this IEM so far. Impacful but disciplined bass, great end to end extension (this is one of its strong suits-- usually single DDs drop the ball somewhat at one end of the other), timbre and coherence top knotch, and the overall tonality achieves a great balance for me. Upper mids and highs are airy and spacious, with enough meat in the lower mids and mid-bass for me (a common issue I have). All in all so far I feel the Singularity is a superbly compelling IEM and anyone into DDs should have this one high on their list to try out. A solid win in my opinion for @Chang and co. at Nightjar. This will be a brand to watch going forward.

I love the packaging. My arrived yesterday, but I won't be home until 7/30. Can't wait to meet up with it.

How would you compare to trifecta :) ? a little more traditional and refined not special sauce unique like trifecta (im just projecting)? Would you consider singularity a better all rounder, in the sense it would be something you could just listen to all day as an everyday listen ?

Received mine today too and I have to agree. It is a awesome DD IEM. Impactful bass response with fantastic clarity. Top-end texture with fast treble. Timbre and coherence is top-tier as expected from a single DD. Package and build quality is impeccable. Subtonic/Symphonium/Nightjar really know what they are doing.

How would you compare to trifecta :) ?
a little more traditional

If by that you mean more classically hi-fi balanced tuning, then yes.

and refined

I wouldn't say more refined than Trifecta across the board, no. The biggest difference is that Trifecta is bass driven sound notable for its immense staging, holographic imaging and (in my opinion) for how refined and resolving it is for being such a bass driven sound. The Singularity to me sounds incrediby refined in its overall tonal balance...this is never an easy thing to hit and I can't remember the last single DD I've heard that does this so well.

Would you consider singularity a better all rounder, in the sense it would be something you could just listen to all day as an everyday listen?

Caveat: For my tastes and library I consider Trifecta to be a great all rounder. It's been my bread and butter for most of 2023 so far and, while it's definitely a specialist in many respects, I've never found myself missing anything with it. That said...

I think tonally the Singularity is objectively a better "generalist" and will probably appeal more broadly on that front.

In other news...damn this IEM has me hooked. It's early days and I'm obviously just entering the "infatuated honeymoon phase" but I honestly think Nightjar may have something approachign the perfect single DD IEM on their hands.

yep.

Nice writeup.

Agree that xe6 is one of the only pair-ups with orphy where the cable's awesomeness gets lost in translation.

Also concur that 1950 is one of the closest alternatives to orphy. Indeed, hearing orphy is the only reason I parted with my beloved @doctorjuggles 1950 clone. 1950 is a seriously amazing cable, and it's always my top rational suggestion for something truly totl.

It is quite a testament to pw's mischievous sonic madness, that he was able to create something to top even the deservingly-legendary fiddy.
