Didn't realise this thread existed so this was previously posted on another thread. Takstar has a new planar, but so far, haven't been able to find out anything except its own website link.

Looks to be pretty heavy and difficult to drive though.

ISK HF2010 Mods and why I like it:

1. Take off the metal ISK label on the sides of the headphone. The sound stage is better and more airy.

2. Open the cups up, in the middle there is a small circular area that is not covered by felt and covered by black foam. Cover this area up with felt. Those stick-on felts patches to prevent chairs from scratching the floors has a perfect size for this. I happen to punch a tiny hole through the middle (1-2mm). This got rid of the slightly boomy bass and there is no more bleed into mid-bass. It doesn't make it a closed headphone. The headphone still breathes but there is more restricted air movement to control the boomy bass.

3. There is no buzz like the Pro 82 at the low frequency sweep. Could be because of the better power handling or the bigger 53mm driver.

4. The velour pads are way cooler than pleather pads.

Really enjoy this pair of cheap headphones but I think 3-5 Khz area can use parametric EQ.

Wish someone could properly measure this headphone (hopefully with my mods as well to objective tell if it really made a difference! LOL)

After a decade and relocation to NA I reaquired a used HyperX Cloud ii/Takstar Pro 80. $25 Sound just as I recall. Part of the stable of audiophile giant killers from the early 20-teens.

For closed cans to do better you need to spend $250 or more.

Still made as the HyperX or ISK HP2011. No noticeable sound loss due to Mic hole open as HyperX are gamer sets with a Mic.

Original CAL! Aurvana from same era are nowhere near as good as Pro 80 but in same audiophile detail target sq.

Pro 80s are a discontinued classic. When you find a working used pair, buy them!

if you are looking for the same crazy V-shaped signature - maybe.
Otherwise, Pro 82 v2 will get you to the next level.
See the first post in the pro 82 thread for a link to a genuine v2 and a discount coupon: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/tak...iew-impressions-and-discussion-thread.849965/
I burn my headphones in for 2 weeks.
300 hours.
Hot treble on Pro 80 all gone once that is completed.
Next step up is Moda M-100 or the Shure SRH1540.

Any EQ is absolutely out of the question.

Simplest signal chain is best.
Most listening is all analog.

It's the exact same story with HD 5500. If you want to go with something other than the flagship PRO 82, than you should consider the HD 5800 or the TS-450. Both of those are better in every aspect than older, non flagship, Takstar models.

I ordered their most recent release - the HD 6500. It should arrive soon and I'll be able to give feedback on it.
How did that 6500 work out?

thank u . so these Takstar HF 580 is better and its from China?
I've never listened to the Takstar HD6500, but I would expect the Takstar HF 580 (planar) headphones to sound better.
(I own the Takstar HD6000 & HF 580).
The Drop (Massdrop) Hifiman HD5XX are really good for their $180 price.
