The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

My apologies if this question has already been asked/answered, but has anyone successfully installed 128GB cards in the AK100? Given the rather painful and time-consuming nature of loading the DAP, I would like to load as much of my collection as possible on the player at one time.

Another question: As the AK100 does not (yet) support gapless playback, does anyone have any suggestions on how best to merge multiple ALAC or AIFF files into a single file? This would be useful for live recordings and classical music.

Thanks.

I'm afraid that to the best of my knowledge, no one has yet released a 128gig micro sd card

honestly who would want to out a 128 microSD in AK100. The rescan would take a good 2 hours. I think 64+64+32 is more than plenty, even for the hardcore ones.

While I agree that 160GB is plenty stout, I have a library that exceeds 1.5TB. As such, I would prefer to dump as much of it onto large SD cards, and keep the onboard memory for new purchases/rotating interests.

Hi guys,

Just reporting on this:

I picked up an xDuoo XD-01 Portable DAC/Amp from e-earphone here in Tokyo and can report that it pairs amazingly well with the AK100. The XD-01 has an optical in port and comes packaged with a short optical cable perfect for the AK100. It utilizes the same Wolfson DAC as the AK100 but its amp can power the beyerdynamic T1 (600Ω) but not the Hifiman HE-6.

Been using this combo for the past few days and I can say its one of the best sounding combos I've ever heard.

Did you had any luck with the clear audio tube you were experimenting with?
Thanks for your update, the xDuoo seems to be the cheapest and most logical upgrade with AK100. Have you tested the amp section alone without using its inbuilt DAC? I ask this because how the DAC is implement is very important on how it sounds. Some companies like to use "high end" DAC so they can advertise it but they really do not know how to design a PCB which brings the best of that DAC.

I don't understand Japanese @_@

It's actually Chinese and you don't need to understand it either . It's just the DAC and amp codes that you need to Google :D.
