The Fiio X5 Thread

I never use the FM radio on any of the players I own that have it.

I don't use FM period any more except for the clock radio and when renting cars.
At least with Sirius I get some control over my crappy sounding music.

There are SQ reasons to leave this out as well since you are adding in an RF antenna to a device where HF noise is already an issue.

I think anyone interested in radio for music isn't really looking for good sound quality.  I've never used it on any modern device I've bought.

Well I do listen to radio on the go, specifically news radio because it´s also part of my professional duties, couldn´t care less about listening to music radio
So it´s a must for me, seems again my answer will be the upcoming sony F886, they keep fm radio in and I don´t think noise will be an issue, hx/mx master section of sony´s do avoid noise interference because of that proprietary circuit there´s no ad-da /dac stage

but if fiio had this add in I would buy it

James has stated that the X5 is intended to be tuned more neutrally than the X3.

The DAC is listed on the first post of this thread as PCM1792DAC

I have just browsed through some of the pages, is there a release date yet ( I'll speak for myself and say I don't want to see James having to run naked through the streets) and is there a price. The end of the year is coming up fast...

Thanks, so it is going to be under 400 and be released in two months or less, cool. I wonder how this will sound compared to the DX50 which I will be receiving early next week. I have the X3 and that has a warm sound sig and the DX50 is to be more neutral than the X3. So will it worth getting?

Keeping in mind fiio-s value for money attitude and X5 being more expensive than DX50, it should be "better" than DX50. We\ll see soon, exactly how better it is...

At least try to hear it before assuming you won't like it. And the vice versa applies too. I'm definitely gonna have to audition it before i decide to spend a few hundred bucks on it. That said, I'm still excitedly waiting for its release.

Just the sound quality of X3 has me smiling, I can only imagine what the X5 will be like. If it's even 10% better sound quality than the X3 I'll be very happy, but my guess is that it'll be more like 20%. (Subjetively for me of course, otherwise numbers make no sense I know)
