  I believe that an X5 is probably under production and the choice of dAC, amp were already chosen.
For the sake of discussion and for making X5 more competitive, dSD decoding is a very nice thing to have.
I also wish X5 will have a better infterface than X3 and please use a larger LCD display with better quality. My ancient H340 has a better display than X3 and it is hard to swallow this fact

 
 
1, the DAC is PCM1792 which is the best DAC available from TI.
 
2, The op am is OPA1612, for I/V, filter and op amp.
 
3, The amp is dual LMH6643.
 
4, The screen is 2.4'' IPS 400X360 ( better than others), in fact, the IPS displayer is used in blackberry 9105/9100 , which is the best IPS displayer we can find. and we have to purchase more than 100,000 pcs cause it is stocked sreen , seems blackberry purchased too many but can't used all.

Seems good enough honestly.
 
James please tell me you are targeting a neutral sound signature, not warm not bright.
 
Also, maybe after the product released, with future firmware updates, is there any chance for  USB audio output? If no, it is okay, no biggie, but if it is there, it is more than welcome *cough cough Centrance M8 cough cough*
 
Another thing I feel like I have to mention, the wheel is system kinda scary. After seeing HM901 has a lot of durability issues. I hope you guys do it in a durable fashioned way.

Specs are awesome James. I own the X3 but will purchase the X5 anyway. Looking forward to Fiio's latest and greatest. Please tune it to be absolutely neutral as possible. X3 is slightly dark still, much better than E17 but still the bass is a little bloated and highs are missing a bit. Still very nice but I hope the X5 is even more dead neutral.

yes, X5 sounds more neutral than X3. anyway, the LO and Coaxial out is designed to meet the different requirement about the sound. we can't satisfy everyone.
