The scroll wheel on the X5 is an Alps precision rotary switch. I'm pretty sure it puts out digital pulses. The firmware fix is to adjust the number of pulses to fine tune the "window" of rotation to better match the expected response. I'm sure FiiO will address this in a future update but I can also see how it's not a priority since the majority of users are mentally able to compensate without issues. Issues with playlist handling and things like that have been a much higher priority and they are steadily improving with each firmware update. This thread is going on 1000 pages and I would estimate 90+ percent are singing the praises of the X5 so there must be something pretty good about it and it's obvious the MAJORITY of us are willing to give FiiO the benefit of the doubt.

When is the last time Apple engineers were in here asking what our users want in a new music player. Pretty sure the answer is NEVER.

Man, if I knew what was going to happen I would never have brought up the subject of the scroll wheel. My most humble and sincere apologies.

Anyways, back to the awesome SQ of this player. Kicking back with the X5 and Dunu DN1k's listening to Breaking Benjamin whilst knocking over a few James Beam. It's an awesome pairing!!

I live in a tourist destination so all of us locals are staying at home!! We have been seriously invaded.

This in off season;

The X5 is going to get some serious use over the next few weeks.

Thanks I'm on 2.36beta and looks stable for me so far. I haven't found any bug or anything annoying. I suppose the new firmware will be as good if not better.

To the person who had FLAC playback problems. I was having issues as well. I used this program http://www.vuplayer.com/other.php audio tester. I fund that my files would get currupted when i transfered them to my card. It turned out to be a bad card but a few things that could affect it would be bad RAM and windows not making a perfect copy. There are programs that verify copies by hashing and all that.

And not to beat a dead horse but the wheel is to loose. Im always accidentally hitting other options that i dont mean to. Why even have a wheel? Touch screen is the only way to do a music player UI. With 100 dollar android phones on the market i seriously doubt the cost would have gone up by much.

The main problem i have with the wheel is that it looks like an ipod knock off.

sorry, we will try to find a better way to handle the wheel, and I believe we will give up the wheel at last.
