The Fiio X5 Thread

The leather case FiiO HS9 is available at audiophonics.fr

Price € 9.90 which I think is very cheap for a genuine leather case

Yes, that looks good and it should solve the lockscreen issues. Unfortunately I can't find it in the UK and shipping from Hong Kong is cheaper than from France!

Edit: EA have it for £21.99 delivered - daylight robbery!

Edit2: EA have reduced their price to £11.95 :)

Yep sorry, the link to the leather case was intended for @ R.Fox. He mentioned he was looking for a cable in Germany so my guess a EU retailer would probably fit the bill. How about treoo?

It may solve the lock screen issue, but the open leather case will make the X5 more vulnerable and a magnet for dust, dirt, and abrasive effects especially the buttons

Have a look at this on eBay UK

Yes, thanks, that was the source behind my statement that it was cheaper to ship from Hong Kong than France.

The hs9 - leather case for the x5, i am a little confused, the ebay ones from honk kong are artificial leather but the ea audio one (uk) says it is leather - is this real leather to9 justify the price difference?

Why don't you ask EA Audio and the seller on eBay if it is real leather.

Today I received my order HS6 stacking kit and actually I'm very impressed by the sound difference between the HPC-23TN interconect an the fiiO L8 cable.
Is it really possible that only this short cable makes a difference like that?

I don't consider myself a veteran audiophile by any means but OMG. I've been using my Grado SR60 for years at the office with the "music" that comes out of the pc (onboard DELL soundcard). I never knew my dear old Grado could sound that much better. Don't get me wrong, I knew I was listening to crap out of that computer. I just didn't knew how bad it was. Just to give you an idea, I'm currently only listening from one ear (clogged ear) and it's already better, I look forward to hear some soudstage.

I don't have any desktop setup worth mentioning so I think the X5+E12DIY will be my everything-setup for now on.

I can't wait to try my Etymotics HF5 that I've been using with my Zune 80gb for years.

imo the bands are the one that holds them together see those strips on the side as well on the back

I'm not really well versed and actually quite new to audiophile setups but will desktop amps like hifiman ef2a or little dot mkiii make a difference on the sound quality or this guys amp already superior to them?

btw im driving AKG Q701

Yes the silicone bands hold the two peaces together. Therefore delivers fiio a plastic Frame that covers the X5 at the outside.
Specially impressive is the silverplated interconnect cable. The sound quality is really breathtaking.

So I've been without a dap for a long time ever since i lost my ZX1. I think I'm going to B&H later and buy the X5 as well as 2 64gb cards. I did like the X3 but I did feel it was a bit slow in the UI but the X5 definitely has a better UI and it would be nice to have my phone as a backup source instead of the main source.

If I have understood it correctly you can put 2x 128GB cards into the X5.
