Hmmmm...yes, B&H customer service got their buyer to email me. He said "early April", so I was sceptical about April 1st...

Hi James, is it true that HDPHNS.com will be having a couple of weeks delay because the production will be stopped for a couple of days?
They said that it was due to the firmware and hardware updates...

I don't want to wait longer

haha!

Thanks!

Would like to know this as well, as I too ordered from HDPHNS.com.
Maybe some wrong interpretation, but if there are actually hardware updates planned, I would like to know what exactly.

I would think the X5 should drive all those cans well. I would probably wait until some people start posting more impressions of the x5/e12 combo if I were you. I ordered the e12 to drive my audeze cans and I plan on posting impressions on this thread because I am curious too how much of an improvement there will be.

there will be an improvement. I have e12, and now x5 too. few less sensitive orthos that I have are better controled with e12 support. all 55mm (pmb, yamahas etc.) . fostexes (all mad -alpha- whatever dogs included) are nice with just x5. and sensitive ones are even better without e12 (no hiss).
p.s. - rubber bands that came with stock e12 will not do job right - there is no place in front of x5 for that. something like x3 leather cover for that hamburger would be nice. didn't see fiio bundle solution yet.

They have announced the X5/E12 bundle package (bumpers, LOD, bands) but no estimate on release date or price yet from James @ FIIO. I plan on signing up for one as soon as it's announced myself.

I saw those photos too. problem is, I have both now, using them now and no decent solution to stick them together. no time to wait, photos don't help much. will make something custom. wood and leather. made good cable already.
and just one rubber band at the bottom of the screen.

Maybe you can try these Scotch reusable sticky strips?  I reviewed them here for use with my E18/Note 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50763714&postcount=105 - very clean and secure attachment.

Adorama says not till the 3rd week of April for their first shipment....I wonder what is going on with all of this conflicting information...

Y2J

Adorama's website also says that they will be closed the third week of April for passover so there may not be anyone to ship them when they get there.

Where is the OS stored if there is no internal memory? MicroSD card?

thought about some kind of doublesided sticky tape - even most of earpads on my headphones attached this way - but it's more like permanent solution, I will use x5 separatelly maybe more often than amplified. not a big problem, anyway, doable in many ways.

Placed my order on miccastore.com and got confirmation of shipping this morning. I get mine on Thursday. Surprisingly its no longer up on the store, I think they may have sold out of what was in-stock perhaps. Can't wait to try it out.

X5 has arrived, courtesy of the good speedy people at EA in the UK. I haven't had a chance to give it much of a run-out yet, but it loves 'Death On Two Legs' by Queen in a 44.1/16 FLAC! First impressions are astonishing.

Loading my microSD cards up for a longer test.

Thanks, and well done on a fantastic product to all at Fiio...

Do you people see a problem of me filling the X5 with mostly MP3 320 (and some FLACs / 24 BITS FLACS) ??
Will I really see a big difference/ should I really re-encode all of my music in FLAC?
Thank you.
