Of course, both are lazy. But if you've been using more Chinese DAPs you'd know that if you've sorted the file names properly you won't be complaining that the UI sucks. 

 
If that's the attitude Fiio take while trying to sell their DAP in the west market where even they themselves admit that people there use tag extensively unlike in the mainland China, I doubt they will be really successful. Thankfully it seems that it's being addressed on X5.

hope our X5 changes something in the UI and firmware. X3 is our first DAP and UI not just means look great but should work great first.  and we learned lots from X3 so don't worry about it.

Well, it's obvious that Fiio's attitude is very positive as you can see from James's responses. He's obviously trying to address as much complains and wishes as possible. My point is that still Fiio has limited resources and they might not be able to make all that happen. And if a feature that someone wants is missing he should be willing to accept that there are limitations and that unfortunately this feature was one of them and if it's a deal breaker he should just accept it and move to another DAP.
Coz just like Fiio has positive attitude, so should we instead of not being understanding of these companies' limitations in resources, options and manpower and acting like they are obliged to make a certain feature. What kind of attitude is to say that if files are listed by their names and not tags than this product will suck and you won't buy it. Just don't buy it and don't comment on it if it doesn't.

Sometimes the next model up isnt significantly better. See the re400 vs re600s for example. The X3 sounds very good, especially at 200 dollars.

There is literally not a single need for it in an high resolution dap. Get a smartphone if you want to listen to radio.
