You have a point but the issue with incompatibility with devices is a universal issue. I had issues with my files on my iphone4, Sansa Fuze, etc. It wasn't until I fixed my tags that all the issues disappeared. Now I simply have a set standard of how all my files are tagged and I don't run into such issues anymore. Plus my library is much neater and organized.

I guess I wouldn't mind making it more organized. I just don't know what I'm doing in that regard, have to do some research first!

It's just a hassle since I don't have albums. Just random EDM tracks from here and there. So if I want to put album art I basically have to do it ~2500 times by hand instead of 2 keystrokes in itunes. 320kbps mp3 all the way to 32bit .wav.

I've only been collecting lossless and 320kbps as a BARE minimum for the past ~6 months so my files are all over the place in terms of tags etc. Some consistency would be nice.

Thanks to the guys who replied about the X5+E12/DIY combo, I think I'll be holding off on getting it for now, the X5 performs wonderfully with my M-100 and I don't really have the kind of cash to throw around for a slight improvement!

Anyway, I'm not sure if this issue has been raised before, but does anybody else think it would be a good idea for the X5 to prioritize the "album artist" tag, when available, for the "Play By Category > Artist" mode? Currently it reads from the artist tag and sometimes you have tracks featuring guest artists and you end up with something like below:

It would be fine if it didn't exclude the tracks featuring other artists from the album if you tried playing it under the main artist in artist mode. (God I hope that sentence made sense)

I understand it's an easy fix by simply playing it through album mode but I feel like this is a situation that could be easily improved software-side. It also makes browsing artist mode more pleasant because you no longer go though a ton of guest artist from one single album; which is especially bad for some electronic albums where the whole album features guests!

EDIT: GRAMMAAARRR!!

I guess a difference between your library and mine would be I created all my files by ripping from CD's I own. I tagged them and embedded the artwork and as such I know the quality of the files. And guess what? I am not having any problem with either my X3 or my X5. None. So where do you get your collected 320K  mp3 files? Who made them?
Rip your own CD's and load them up and see how many errors you get. Oh you don't buy CD's do you?

I hope it's nothing serious?

I have a question, to which i've had no answer so far, despite having asked it twice before:

When the X3 came out, a tool was released so you could view the firmware on the computer, called "liteGUI".
Will you release a new version of this tool for the X5, and new X3 firmware?

We've started a thread about modding the theme ( http://www.head-fi.org/t/717947/fiio-x5-custom-modded-firmwares ) , and it would help us a lot.

Thanks,

Be careful or the Fiio brigade will jump on you for questioning their favorite brand...

I agree 100% I have never hated a product so much in my life and loved it at the same time. Very odd lol

Every time James, who I am a big fan of, explains some of his decisions it always comes down to how the Chinese ppl use their device. If their use of DAPs is so different from us then I hope there is an X7 World Edition and an X7 China Edition.

all we need is time to improve the firmware. as you can see we alread add some feature which is popular outside china, and I believe ClieOS known the difference is there. anyway, we will try our best.

Sorry but that doesn't work. I'm talking about the litegui.exe program, not the unpack program...

Do you see the contradiction in questioning the "qualifications" of others who have voted on Bugzilla when you admit you don't have any? And in any case, I'm genuinely curious to know what qualifications one needs, in order to have a valid opinion on which bugs and features are most important to be addressed on a device... aside from having purchased said device much like you did.

I've been reading Head-Fi a lot longer than I've been posting here, but this is one of the more knowledgeable forums I've yet seen where it comes to portable audio. It's not just a rabble of monkeys clicking "vote" on whichever Bugzilla entry looks the prettiest.

Try to keep in mind: What you consider a flaw and what someone else considers a flaw may not be the same thing, but that doesn't make their opinion less valid. For many of us, lacking playlist support on a portable music device is a huge flaw, and more important than having eighteen different configuration options for buttons that suit every single user's quirks.

that is what we try to do.

What do you hear?
Hiya,

Under that very specific scenario (charging player from mains USB charger) I could hear warbling when the processor was working (as said, button presses was the main part / switching tracks) and quite a lot of static - confirmed this morning that all is normal when under battery power (as you would expect)...

I was using a 4W USB PSU - charging both the X5 and E12 at the same time, so - could be something weird and wonderful going on with that (feedback??), so - was more of an observation than anything else (as generally speaking I wouldn't listen to the units whilst charging - just wanted to get to the end of the album I was listening to before heading to bed)...

I didn't expect that any noise could be heard while charging but, there it is. Weird.

Are you sure that it isn't noise from the charger? Do you get the same thing when charging from a battery pack?

Regarding the 5800 track limit for the library I was wondering if you selected a song & then put the player on random play whether it would play any song on the player or only one of the 5800 listed in the library. As known the player will play any song if selected via the folder browsing method. Does anyone know?

Only the ones it indexes so it will randomly pick from your 5800. The rest get ignored unless you go to folder view. Epic fail I know lol
