Thanks James, Joe, Fiio for the hard work and all of the updates.

Does this mean it is a multichannel recording? You would need to convert it to stereo before playing it properly on any portable player anyway. May I suggest the excellent Dolby Headphone wrapper for foobar...?

(and export the output from foobar to a FLAC via the Convert command)

Thanks Joe, that worked :)

Quick question, is it safe to update the X5 with other stuff in the card provided it's already FAT32? I only have one card and if possible I'd like to avoid the hassle of formatting and transferring all my tracks again every time I wish to change the FW.

EDIT: Also, what is the recommended file system and allocation size for storing tracks on the X5?

A quick one since I am considering the X5 - I must mention that I am a very pleased E17 user.
Would X5 work the same way with my iPad 4 / iPhone 5 as the E17 does (camera connection kit, usb hub, connection to device and disabling the usb charging option)?
Is it possible at the moment or will this feature be supported at a later stage?

I know I'm not the first to say this, but Fiio's commitment to its customers as evidenced by, among other things, how hard it works on perfecting the firmware, is extraordinary!  If all businesses were this dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction, the world would be a much better place.

Thanks to you and James and all the fine folks at Fiio.

+1 I agree.

I must say, it's extremely refreshing to see a company this, engaged with their customer base.

While waiting on my X5, I just want to say a great big THANK YOU to the entire team at FiiO. I'm a future customer (not counting my E11) but I'm already experiencing great after sales service from you.

I wish the big boys would take their cue from FiiO when it comes to engaging their customers, rather than flipping aside customer feedback with comments like "you're holding it wrong".

P.s. I'm not fruit bashing here (I'm typing this on my iPad). Just saying....:D

Anyone know of an online retailer in Canada I can order from? I've done some searching but just don't know what sites have a good reputation.

The Headfoneshop is quite good.
I've never had any trouble with them.

Anyone getting track skips I would recommend making sure your card is formatted to FAT32 (like FiiO told us to do!); it solved my skipping problem. Cheers :)

I think they did also say that NTFS was ok for data, but certainly FAT32 looks to be helping skips on some hires albums I have had. Thanks TR.

I connected the X5 up to my Tag McLaren hifi yesterday. Normally I play either through a Sonos Streaming system (non hi-res) into a Rega DAC, or via Oppo Bluray to stream hi-res files from a NAS.

The X5 sounded good on FLACS and 24/176 using line-out into the TAG Processor's analogue input but really good as a Transport into the Rega DAC using Co-Ax Out. I compared FLACS being played using the Sonos/NAS and their was a significant improvement with crisper highs and an airiness to the sound. Think I've found a new source for home-listening, X5 + Rega

I've received several queries about the 1.23beta firmware so I'm going to post it here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8d2ctfv5qmhrfti/X5%20FW1.23.zip

X5 firmware version 1.23beta (2014-04-11)

Changes from 1.22beta:
1. Fixed issue where APE files played through OTG contained static noise.
2. Removed support for APE files at Insane compression level (as player
becomes too unresponsive while attempting to play such files)
3. Fixed regression in 1.21 and 1.22 where album art display was delayed
for a few seconds after playback of a new song.
4. Added support for ID3 tags from DSD files in DFF format.
5. Fixed bug where starting playback of a song too quickly after changing
from phone out to line out caused the X5 to hang.
6. Numerous other bug fixes.

I also received unconfirmed reports that this version fixes the bug with playing back 24/88.2 files. If I can receive further confirmation from you guys I'll add it to the changelog.

Please note thought that an official version 2.0 firmware is coming soon.

Great stuff Joe, thanks for all these beta releases.

Just found an old 64 MB TF card from PDA days, thought I'd thrown it away as what use would a 64 MB one be these days, get a fraction of a photo on maybe! Just seen FW update file is 36.1 MB, Please Joe and Fiio, keep them under 55MB!!!

Formatted in X5, (shows FAT in Windows rather than FAT32) and worked fine.

Didn't need to have bought a 32GB card, could have got two 64s
