The Fiio X5 Thread

Maybe at the one that asked about the FM on the X5? That's the only thing I could think of.

But I could actually use FM on it, When at a hockey game I have had to use an old FM radio to listen to he broadcast (high school hockey, small town stations, trying to keep up with three different teams).  Would be nice to have one device instead of two.

any idea on the price? I like the idea of carrying less cards myself so I would definately be interested. Also, will it be compatible out of the gate with the X5 or will a later firmware update be required to make use of 128 gb cards?

yeah, about twice the price actually if 64gb can be had for about $50 each now. luckily the price will come over time, and apparently we've gone from 128mb to 128gb in 10 years so before we know it we will be at 256gb! I'm hoping for the day when i can carry all my music on 1 device, hopefully it won't be too much longer

On a serious note, x5 is a couple steps ahead of X3 in the SQ department especially in clarity.

Do you have a chance to compare line out of X3 and X5?

I have X3 and already pre-order X5, but it almost two months before I will get my X5. Tooooooo long

I have not amped the X5 so much as I feel the amp section is very capable for c/iem use. The sound of PO is so organic and detailed.
I did compare between X5 LO and DX50 LO using desktop amp + HD800. I found that X5 LO is much superior and the soundstage is as wide but with so much detail. I listen to well recorded classical music only when using HD800 because I am in the process of upgrading my desktop gear in the future.

so ive been thinking, my current setup is

Sony Xperia Sp > OTG Cable > Fiio E07K > Sony MDR-1RNC MK2 / Null Audio Elpis 3 (Or the Rooth LSX3 whichever u wish to call it)

I've already ordered my X5, and im wondering if there is any Combinations anyone has to recommend to pair with the X5, regardless if it is a full sized can, or an amp, etc.

Keep in mind it takes time and effort to change out cards.  Is your time worth the extra $300 to you?

Oh, I contacted James at Fiio and he just bought one of the cards to test with their units.  Good to hear!
