Of course 2.18-beta is findable. What we don't want is a bunch of people getting it, whining about bugs on Head-fi, and making people confused. It's already happened. Search through the thread. People have been confusing beta firmware bugs with stable firmware bugs. The simplest and best way to get the beta firmware is to PM chow and ask to join the beta testing group.

This.

I don't know if any of you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, but everytime a new beta is released, the number of people leaving negative feedback in the appstore because the apps crash on a beta firmware version thousandfold.

Don't be these people. Just wait for a stable release, or join the beta group to actually help make it stable.

I was just being a punk, excuse me. Glad to be a new owner of the x3.

It was just a suggestion as I thought you might know a servicing outlet that used a 'scope. By the way. you'll be drawing a lot more current than usual connecting a 3 ohm load to a nominally 8 ohm amplifier output so I'd be careful if I were you.

Oh man you have any "recommended" oscilloscopes. The only audio I've done and I would not say it's even a test more just having fun with my crappy speaker setup when 3ohm sub is connected to 8ohm outputs!

Hey guys.  Long time lurker.  Got my X3 back in August and have really enjoyed it (although I keep looking at the X5).  I've tried back reading a bunch and didn't see this mentioned, but has anybody else had their hold switch break off?  I can still slide the switch with a pin/paper clip.

I suggest contacting FiiO or the company you bought it from.

OK, I don't have the 2.18beta, but the 2.14beta and personally, I like the 2.1 a bit more when it comes to sq.

So it is not just a feeling. i tried yesterday 2.14b with beyer dt880. 2.1 sq seemed better to me too but i'll give 2.14b a chance again today.
Some previous posts say that mp3 sound is better but, c'mon, we didn't buy for mp3 :)

For those of you who do rips from vinyl for playing on the X3… what do you rip them to?  192/24 WAV?  192/24 FLAC?  96/24 ALAC, WAV, FLAC?  I've done so many compare & contrasts, my ears are giving up.

Honestly you'd probably be fine with 24/48 FLACs.  I really doubt you will hear a difference.  WAV is pointlessly large, no reason not to use compression.  I'd go with FLAC.  Most Vinyl rips I've seen are 24/96 FLACs.

  Hello

New to Fiio X3 and this forum, just wanted to inform all that I use a Sandisk Ultra 64GB card without any problem what so-ever, I just popped it into the X3 and formatted it and since all is just great, the X3 is running the 2.1 firmware.

Hope this helps for those looking for 64gb cards

I'm using a SanDisk 64 GB micro SD. All I did was sick it in the player and let the X3 format the card. No problems at all.

Thanks guys for the confirmation! :)

Someone should really put the text these posts in the first post or something...
