What amp you using these days? Last I heard you mention it was a Blue-something-or-other? (maybe I'm confusing this with someone else)

I'm still using the Bluebird 6.0  It sounds fantastic but as you might recall I had a lot of trouble with it initially and had to really bring out my soldering-fu. Also it has channel imbalance at low volume, low gain setting is a joke (trying to be some crossfeed mode I believe) and so on so wouldn't really recommend it.

Since I've got a couple of new amps lately I'm thinking of putting the Cayin C5 with it instead. It's to good to lay around unused.....

Edit :
The footprint and 28 hours battery life makes me hesitate though :

@jmills8 which Sony did you get?

X3 still one of my favorite daps. I've had zx2, zx1, Rwak120b, ak100ii, ak120ii, and AK240. X3 I've had the longest and will always keep. If it had AK UI, or similar, it would be the perfect dap.

I've got ZX100 currently going dramatic SQ changes very powerful bass yesterday wasn't like that oh burn in... when you will end ?

The new sony dap the 100 and it is almost as small as the X3 and it did need some burn in. It is very detailed and bass is plentiful, actually more bass than X3. The EQ is nice ofcourse you know awesome battery life.

True the 100 has more imaging and a wider soundstage so I add an amp a neutral sounding amp which widens the sound stage and deepens the sound as well plus treble boost can make the X3 brighter uf needed. BUT the sony UI is obviously better and 40 plus hrs of use is amazing.

More like a v-shaped freq response (+soundstage +bass) ?

Not so, kind of neutralish but bass is more defined and kicks hard but not overwhelms other frequencies

lately my x3 has had trouble turning on had to use a pin in to get to restart. It's happening more frequently, about thrice a week of light usage. What gives? Any new firmware coming up?

New FW due any day now. Will be last one.
