WM8740 is perfect. Even Amp section uses same components as E17

So far  I have not owned any Fiio product before. Definitely the Fiio X3 would be in my priority list.
I have a very high hope on Fiio X3, the SQ must at least on par with Ibasso DX-100 or iRiver AK100.
Otherwise there is no reason for Fiio to launch a mediocre DAP which are already so many out there.

Probably not the dx100 i am expecting more along the line of n3,c3, j3 , players along that line of prices, i mean i do have the fiio e17, i can tell you straight its not dx100 grade

Sorry to disappoint you but we already went through that discussion a long time ago. X3 is not designed as an audiophile DAP.

maybe other brands will change to wm8741, but it need more power so the battery life will drop to less than 10 hours.

There were photos on Dec 24th and Dec 29th for the silicon case that Fiio was talking about shipping or selling.
 
That would be nice to see in the first post and may be the photo of the proto with out case on Nov 6

So, what is it then supposed to be? Or what does it do diffrent compared to the "big" ones? Having a build-in amp doesn't sound really mid-levelish to me. If the X3 won't sound as good as the DX100, it's fine for me, but why is that so?
