LOL! Wired completely different! You're actually lucky, you got the adjustable edition!

75 and 150 graphed exactly the same.
It might actually be an issue with your impedance adapters. I have a 30 ohm impedance adapter and another 75 ohm one from a different Aliexpress store, and the 75ohm one does very little to the frequency response (but does make the IEM harder to drive) while the 30ohm works as expected.

Here's an example with the AS16 Pro:

But what's wild is that I think with Rick Rubin's work, it's not actually about the loudness war. I think he actually likes the way dynamic range compression sounds. It's kind of a funny way to think about the "loudness wars" in general--maybe all it ever was was everyone trying to sound like a Rick Rubin joint.
Well, most of us knew Rick Rubin especially on some Slayer albums like Reign In Blood, South of Heaven and others.

Nah, I actually measured my adapters. My 18 ohm measures at 30, my 30 ohm measures at 18. The 10, 75, 150 and 220 are good.

Yes, those vocals just sound so right. Hypnotic is the word. I was thinking about doing a return on these since I have so many new sets that have come in recently. But then I put them in my ears... 30 minutes later I threw out the box.
It definitely crossed my mind quite a few times to return them but now that I have fully extracted this sets secret sauce, there is no way in hell I would want to let this one go.

when you wonder how cheap budget iems could be,
i mean Linglong is around $9 and EDX ProX is at $6 in my place
and then this pops out

Just received the KZ EDX Lite, which I got for just $0.40 (yes, you read that right, 40 cents and delivered straight to my door). It's actually quite good with a nice bass thump, fairly natural-sounding mids, and mostly non-offensive treble. It has a surprisingly open soundstage along with average imaging.

Obviously insane price-to-performance ratio for how much I paid for it. Heck, you can't even get a postage stamp here in Canada for that much.

mind you its not gonna be $30+ slayer or anything.
but functional and not bad tuning for less than a freakin dollar.
sometimes i envy how deep the discount in NA regions get.

Interesting to see Rick Rubin mentioned.

I am 56 and I was not aware he was active for as long as he has been.

I associate him with his first stuff in the early to mid 80s with LL Cool J, Run-DMC and Beastie Boys, Licensed to Ill in particular, first ever number one Rap album I believe.

I still like me a bit of Beastie Boys now and then but Ill Communication sounds a bit rougher on decent IEM versus how I remember them sounding on my old Kenwood CD midi system :relaxed:

For sure. Back in the '80s, I was right smack dab in the middle of his target demographic. I was listening to Slayer right alongside LL Cool J. My point is, I can't help but wonder if what many of us now look back on as the beginnings of the "loudness wars" was really just a production aesthetic pioneered by Rubin. I genuinely think he thinks compression sounds good.

EDIT: Also I feel obliged to add that Rubin is an audiophile. Regularly attends the big audio shows and routinely rotates his gear (plenty of pics floating around online of his setups over the years). He just has this weird, very anti-audiophile affection for dynamic range compression.

Timing is a b***h sometimes!! In one day, I have two daps that battery wise, are finally on their last leg. Both my Fiio X3 iii and my Sony A45 are not holding a charge for long. The X3 iii is my burn in station dap, and also one of my mobiles, as it runs 2.5 balanced instead of the lame aff 4.4 that comes with most daps nowadays. Interestingly enough, I bought them both about the same time about 6 years ago. They lasted around the same length of time. So now, it looks like I'll be in the market for another mobile dap, to replace both. One for two. They are both great daps too.

I love my Linglong, and it was my travel IEM for several months, and the EDX Pro X is one of my TWS buds along with the Medusa. Very enjoyable with nice bass and shimmery treble, so very happy with both those purchases. $14.00 for the Lings when they were released and $6.00 for the EDX Pro X when @FastGecko5 recommended them.

btw what version of Beatles album that you use?

there are several remaster of it and it came with quite different remastering method.
there is the mono one, the early stereo one that very much left and right in placement, and one version i lost that have proper staging

For vinyl: Not an original pressing of "Abbey Road" or anything. Think it was the reissue back from a few years ago.

Or, I like "1" since I don't mind compilations, even if it's not that great of a pressing.

But, I definitely need to start grabbing older pressings, eventually.

Otherwise, I'll stream the remasters off of Tidal. I used to have a lot of FLACs but kind of went away from it. Now that I have a dedicated NAS, though, maybe it's time to start that up again.

I listen to a lot of Beastie Boys. I have 4 of their albums, and the best of, so I'm constantly listening to BB when I go for my walks with my wife or the gym. GREAT GYM MUSIC.

So I finally go to organizing my two wooden boxes and my metal box, and now it's been whittled down to the cherry wood box, which used to be the death box, and a new clear craft box, which I got the idea from Timmy, who keeps all his IEMs in these types of boxes. I moved the death box from the cherry wood to the metal box, and along with my oak box, put that in the closet. I'm also using the Bridge box to hold my standby's, so I don't always have to go into either box. The Clear plastic organizer holds my first and second rotations, and the wooden box holds my random listens and budget IEMs I only use on occasion, but aren't in the death box. I also have space made available now for my impending desktop set up, which will be completed by Christmas, so I can listen bedside with those hard to drive IEMs and any headphones I might pick up, and the wife likes the new organization, with much less clutter and boxes and tins taking up all the space top and bottom (which you can't see).

Why do you want to use a 1BA set, which IMHO, is the weakest driver configuration available.
The Kotori Audio Vampire and other comments like yours on BAs have made me want to have a decent 1BA set to test with EQ and isolate my opinions/preferences. I have some cheaper sets with BAs but also with other drivers. I tend to enjoy my 1DD sets more than xDD + yBA sets and wanted to see if it was specifically because the BAs were bad or because they used cheap ones/poorly implemented the ones they had. I will keep the Aful in mind.
Might as well experience a cheap bellsing single BA and make your own decision on how these will fare for you. Not the best for accuracy but not bad for being so cheap.
Honestly I haven't considered NiceHCK as an IEM brand in a while but I will consider their cheap bullet, maybe I can add it to another order to get the free choice shipping.
Just over at $102. I'm pretty sure I saw them at $99 in the past. Stupid inflation.
This set is why I was curious about others in the first place. EQing my 1DD sets to it sounds kind of derpy so I was wondering if there were special characteristics of BA-only sets that might make it make more sense. Sound aside, they are a very nice looking set.
Aful MagicOne. $99 on Amazon now. This is the one to get.
Noted and on the list of potential IEMs to catch in future sales!
