Congrats on the new TX-02!

How does the miroak ii play say melodic doom like https://songwhip.com/bell-witch/longing ? Or 'Ahab' stuff.

And is there any 300-350 usd ish good R2R DAP out there or upcoming that you might have heard of?

Considering am in love with the hiby FC6 dongle's sound , was thinking instead of wasting on that mech new hiby dap, should acquire R2R dap, if it's implemented as well as the FC6.

I have the budget m300 for a regular DAP experience and already love the freedom away from phone - literally and psychologically. I have cough gasp cough even picked a book to read during casual listening time which would usually have gone in silly browsing on phone. Basically sold on DAP experience.

So, any reccos on good R2R DAP at that price point (guess that might prove difficult) would be appreciated.
Bell Witch?! Damn. Just picked this up a few weeks ago due to a rec in a death doom magazine. Rock on!

The adapter looks nice.

I guess it is a custom version? The one on the Penon site looks very different.
https://penonaudio.com/penon-totem-adapter-cable.html

Which plugs and cable did you choose?
I bought it here:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzyAN8F
Now the item isn't available in AliX.
The seller assured me this is new version of cable and it's the same Totem conductor. I don't care about aesthetic aperience so I decided to get 2 versions of plug/socet:
SE 3.5 mm TRS male/female
Bal 4.4 mm TRRRS pentacon male/female.
I enjoy the new sound of IEMs (SR5, Shozy P20, SLIIVO SLT6) with my every cable (NiceHCK AceOrpheus, CEMA SuperCopper, Yongse WarCraft, cheap XINHS) wich I have with me now.

I'm absolutely amazed how this short Penon Totem adapter changes a sound! Especially with good IEM such as Myer SLIIVO SLT6. Still almost monitor sounding of SLT6 get much clear, more clarity, with noticeably better resolution, with excellent extension of bass and treble. It's even with stock cable! Instead almost monitoring sound SLT6 got more body, more weight of notes - more emotional sound.
I reviewed that in 2022! Some people won’t believe, but I agree with you.....+ body, + weight, more emotionally satisfying, + clarity! For the win!

Really of all the plugs and adapters I have the Totem are the best. Mine are the older ones before they went modular so my Totem cable ends with 2.5mm balanced, then I do also have the 4.4mm to 4.4mm. What is funny is you simply add a section of wire onto any cable and it can make a difference! Cheers!

Option examples:
4.4mm Balanced Male to 4.4mm Balanced Female
2.5mm Balanced Male to 2.5mm Balanced Female
3.5mm Audio Male to 3.5mm Audio Female
3.5mm Audio Male to 2.5mm Balanced Female
4.4mm Balanced Male to 2.5mm Balanced Female

Looking good this colab 😀

The DUNU X GIZAUDIO Da Vinci is a 2DD + 4BA hybrid.

This is a balanced U-shaped set, tonally quite all-rounded, with more mid-bass/lower mids - and hence note weight - than the previous Chopin collab. Textured and fast bass, with clean midrange and nice treble extension.

It has decent timbre, with a good display of technicalities.

I would consider this as a solid midFI hybrid, certainly quite competitive. It was retuned for the Can Jam Singapore show, this V3 (it is also the final version) showcases more mid-bass than the previous iteration from gathered feedback.

Indeed, I actually preferred the Da Vinci by far to the AFUL Cantor, which was overly bright. The HIFIGO reps have noted feedback for the Cantor and will likely retune it.

Giving the ARRTI R1 another go for a while on my desk as the weather starts warming up and I can't stand having a set of cans on my head all day. Remembering how nice the included cable is but also how little I feel like it matches the color of the IEMs themselves. Looking forward to swapping in some IEMs that I didn't initially like to see if giving them more time in-ear improves my opinion on them or solidifies it.

I don't know what it is about the design of the Ace but I NEED to try it. The geometric shape and color is calling to me for some reason lol
