Sunday's night listening session with three different lovely sounding IEMs
That one is on my wish list! I have the Westone AM Pro X10 which is a single BA, very nice tuning but a bit light in the bass.My favorite IEM is a single BA: The Aful MagicOne. Terrific tuning for my preferences.
The Origin is a beauty in every single aspect. I think it's a proper replacement for the Oxygen and also, an early contender for IEM of the year.
This year Simon is just picking the final version of the driver. The Unity Mini is up first I believe. Once the final driver is chosen and I get a chance to listen I will update. But this one is close.nice ! do you think this might become available for purchase sometime this year or we will have to wait for 2025 ?
So fyi, I'm testing the Singolo with the Eletech tips. It helps with the fit for those interested. @o0genesis0o
Thank you!IMHO, nothing, really. Everyone is doing a good job in their own ways.
Big ones coming up:
- Symphonium Titan
- Elysian Acoustic Labs Pilgrim
- AFUL 14BA flagship is finally coming
- AuR audio just released a quadbrid (DD+BA+EST+Sonion bone conduction) for around 1k USD.
- HiBy is launching a $2xx Android DAP with 4 ESS DACs and class A amp. They are also going to release a single DD collaboration with FAudio.
Not so new news:
- NiceHck has two good IEMs: F1 Pro (planar) and Himalaya (single DD)
- Hidizs has a good planar IEM (MP145)
- Letshuoer has Cadenza 4, which seems to be very good mid-fi entry.
For a quadbrid, I'm sure it'll be sensational, but these guys started out as providing bang for your buck hi end sound for midfi prices. Now they've entered Kilobuck territory, so they are no longer providing bang for your buck, because there is no "bang for your buck" in Kilobuck territory, and you won't convince me otherwise, so I'll be passing, and living vicariously through those who will buy it full price or get review units at a deep discount.AüR Audio Aehta price released, depending on the conversion rate 985usd for standard version.
Or the FX850. Always trying to find a decent mod to tame that over rambunctious bass. I ended up parting ways with it. For the FW01, which had way more tame bass, but the treble and mids weren't as awe inspiring as the FX850.Déjà vu
I’m having flashbacks, to the modding of the JVC HA-FDX1
It's one of the oddest iems. I feel like Crin took all the feedback from red too hard. It's a solid iem, but needs a better fit stability. It's very tiny!I have also achieved stable fit with Velvet tips.
There has been a lot of discussion about "Planar timbre" especially since such drivers have become more prevalent. I certainly have experienced "BA timbre" but have never found planar drivers to have unnatural tonality. As an example, via Xduoo X20 > Faaeal Hibiscus > KZ PR3, the timbre of the piano and guitar on this piece sounds very natural and accurate:
And CCA Trio as a bit of a Gorilla in the budget sector. Not everyone can afford all those snazzy and very expensive up and comers, so the Trio is a bit of a game changer in the ultra budget sector, while the $200-$300 sector has been a fight with a bunch of single DD wonders.IMHO, nothing, really. Everyone is doing a good job in their own ways.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about that one. I’m amazed that such competent IEM is available at that price (and made by KZ. But that’s another story). And CCA Trio as a bit of a Gorilla in the budget sector.
