I have tried line-in using my QP2R, it is very clean and precise. Compared to my QP2R, when I gave Line-in to the CMA18P(2.5mm to 4.4mm adapter, 4.4mm to 4.4mm line-in), the output was cleaner and bigger. It sounded more open and more dynamic as well. Details were getting better produced. I am actually waiting for another player to get delivered to check actual line-in characteristics(as QP2R I was double-amp'ing the signal once on the QP2R and then on the CMA18P). My other player has been seized by the customs in my country as the seller thankfully included the retail invoice in the package. It is a lost cause now
I noticed similar phenomenon, with different IEMs and sources of course. Even the U12t didn’t sound that much better than other IEMs in my collection at that time when I tested with the Hidizs AP80 Pro X. So I borrowed the AK SP2000T for crap and giggle and my jaw dropped, because the gap in SQ widened.
You are right, it’s not about how many W. Same loudness from an IEM = same W being used from amp. But there are other factors which I wish to learn when I have time one day. An amp maker talked about power reserve for transients. Others talk about distortion at the output level (e.g., the ultra low output level used by Andromeda 2020 actually has higher distortion of various amps). Interesting to understand more.
A learned guru once claimed that the "Apple dongle is all you need."
I see some folks in the HD650 thread on Headfi using this Apple dongle with this 300 ohm headphone, but whatever floats their boat.
Haha but jokes aside yeah, powering to adequate volume and powering something well are two different stories.
Not a matter of volume, but more of bass tightness, soundstage, dynamics etc. if something is not powered well, especially for high impedance/low sensitivity gear.

Fosi Audio's latest product, SK02 headphone amp, set-up in optical mode then connected it my Questyle QP2R and Letshuoer Audio EJ07. What a power output.
NiceHCK DB2 came in today. Packaged super well for a 22 dollar iem, even better than the Ziggaat Cinnno(100) dollar iem! This is not disapointing.... it's tuned very well, super impressed so far. Check it out if you can, or need a cheap set it's a treasure with a nice faceplate.
have they been photoshopped on? Looks so realistic.
That is with mere mortal drivers, wait until they hear legendary drivers, their brain is going to be blown!
