I don't have the PR2 here with me now..
Anyway, how do you know if there is a mesh or not?
I had seen a comparison picture, but couldn't figure out what to look at.
Warm regards, if you look at the pictures again, or quite simply your PR2, I think it will be quite clear to you. If you can see through the clear shell the overlay of the driver by the rectangle shaped mesh, it is V1, if you can see the driver directly, it is on the contrary V2. You can't go wrong, it's clearly visible 🖖

OK thank you.
I'll post some pictures as soon as possible, so it will help me understand.

I should take this opportunity to ask your opinion about the Halocene. Is it any good as an all-rounder? TIA
I can't speak for its merits so you may need to find someone else to talk about that.

I don't like it's sound signature one bit, too muddy for me.

Bonus: 1st vs 2nd gen KZ planar

Notice the thicker 2nd gen driver.

I would recommend the PR2... V1 which is no longer available due to KZ labour cutting.

The V2 is a downgrade in all aspects, peakier treble, worse imaging and detail.

It's the hottest KZ controversy actually

Fun you said C2, I am also writing something about EW100P and also the EA500. There is some big similarities between all 3, resolution being the biggest difference. The most energetic one is EA500, I have some test tracks in metal and EA500 is almost unlistenable without fatigue.

This is actually a perfect comparison because I also personally love all three of these! They all cater to that bright-ish harman style tuning with the EA500 being my favorite due to the thick and punchy midbass. The EA500 reminds me the most out of one of my favorite sets of all time, the HZSound Heart Mirror. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I can't wait to see your comparison between the three

D-Fi (DD) is okay, well received and some say the non tunable version is better (and cheaper)

PR2 (Planar) is a messy attempt (poor QC + manufacturing inconsistences), which is a shame because it was a very ambitious project

Now we are waiting for AS24 (BA) and Joyodio VZ10 (DD+BA) community feedback. Both featuring lots of switches and new Bellsings

Indeed SR5 has enough energy in treble, but his treble is not such agressive.
Yeah, I suppose that bullet kind of earphones usually comes with that kind of presentation.

But recently the Sound Rhyme 5 or HIDIS MS5, comes with that gain on the upper frequencies...

I love some KINERA iems, but they always have more charge on upper mids and highs that I can "understand"
The SR5 has treble energy? Really? IMHO, one of the weaknesses of the SR5 is that it lacks treble energy. It's polite as a church mouse. The treble energy is similar to the Orchestra Lite, so if you think the SR5 has energy, then you'll love the OL as a treblehead barn burner.

ZVX if you don't mind it not being very isolating. Tried taking it to the gym but could hear everything 😂
It slams quite well though and is very dynamic 👍
Edit: here's ZVX vs PR2 (og)

well, they can make full sonion BA, but it can be very expensive, for example Oriolus Trailli use all sonion drivers, another example is Penon Impact which use all sonion drivers
if you want cheap sonion then look for single BA using Sonion, good choice is U-9 (fish 9) u-556 (sonion 2356) or u-554 (sonion 2354)

Sonion definitely not budget friendly, so you won't find full sonion drivers on entry level, it might be on mid-tier price range but i doubt it unless the brand don't want to make money lol
Even if a Sonion BA cost a maker $200.00 each (which they are NOT), then at $1,600, they would essentially be doubling their profit. All these kilobuck companies are ripping people off, and those selling them above $2,000 are nearly criminal in pricing. Now I say that with a caveat. which is free market, charge what you will, but philosophically, it's a complete crock. A bloated price based on what it really cost to produce even one. So that's not an excuse for the high price of a Sonion IEM.

old KZ with tuning nozzle, the KZ ED9.

I think this is shortly before ZS5 and the multi-driver craziness ensues.
yeah, maybe LingLong successor is not over-ear IEM version but a bullet-em LingLong with tuning nozzle. :D
I remember these things being really popular back in the day

Thanks! If that's how you feel about the Halocene, I'd shutter to imagine how you regard it's brother, the Mammoth...
