But how do we know we can't trust a reviewer?
I don't mean us lot on the Disco Thread, but the thousands who hang on HBB's* every rec?

*other influencers are available, I'm merely using HBB as a random example.
Easy, just look at how cult-like and defensive that reviewer's following is. If they seem brainwashed and indoctrinated, you should probably be skeptical 😂
For example, Fatfreq x HBB Deuce.
Currently standing at over 4000 pre orders at over $200 each.
That's over $800,000.
Kerchiiiing!
I'll be shocked if Fatfreq has the production capacity to fill those orders in a timely manner. Up until this collab they've been borderline boutique. Even KZ couldn't keep up with the demand for the last collab HBB did with them, and I have no doubt that KZ's production capacity is much more than Fatfreq's. But anyway, hasn't Chris stated he's only making something like $1 per sale on the Deuce? It's obviously still a lot of money but at least the majority of that $800,000 is going to Fatfreq, which seems to be a solid company.

Simple. If you don't trust a reviewer, don't listen to them. Their business is their reputation. No one is forcing you to believe them. You're allowed to make up your own mind about a product!

It's not as though anyone could make a living doing just collabs. I think people overestimate how many IEMs are sold on a regular basis, let alone how much of a cut collab reviewers get.
Well, HBB has revealed that at least on some of his collabs, he got a $5.00 royalty per sale. Now how much that royalty is across his vast collabs, is debatable, but I'd gather he's making a pretty good living doing collabs, otherwise he wouldn't bother doing so many.

Once you're a bear dipping your tongue in the honey, you'll keep going back to the hive.

Call me doubting Thomas, but just because he said he's getting a buck per set, it ain't necessarily so...

I bought the Alba and Super Mix 4, the latter was £15 cheaper.

Really don't think the Alba can exist with the sm4 around. The latter is just so much better technically...I get people like single dd iems, I'm one of them, but the difference in detail between the two is pretty staggering, and a bit of eq and you can get the SM4 to be a much better alba with the same sound sig.

Alba is pretty though and great when not considered relatively
Yeah, clearly the ALBA can't compete with some of chifi DD on the market.

But it's a nice alternative made on the western market, and the fit and build are superb for the price.

I think they'll be there so I'm definitely going to try it out strictly out of curiosity.

I read that inital impression and all I could think of was Simgot saying "hold my beer." Sounds like the single DD Simgot house tuning.

@FreeWheelinAudioLuv2 You said you were ditching the Penon Space? What’s it sound like?
The Penon Space is attached to my H60, and it's not moving from there. Soundstage expander and bass lifter, while attenuating the highs only slightly, but I think it's perfect for the H60. I think it's a little too much on the Penon FAN 3, but on the H60 *chef's kiss*

He stated all this royalty payments are going to charity on this one? I don't trust him fully, but I certainly have no reason to think he's lying, so that money he's making with
FatFreq is going to a good cause. As for his other collabs, he's pocketed a lot of money.

We use different DACs, different AMPs, different cables, different eartips, we tend to perceive sound differently, we have different ears (anatomically speaking), we listen at different volume levels, we have different ages, we receive different units of the same IEM, and on top of that, we develop different preferences along the journey… Yes, “miracle” is definitely the right term here! 😂
Wow 👌. This should be a disclaimer for head-fi. Well written. Like this a lot.

Yeah nobody's doing this for charity and why would you if the opportunity is there.
