The discovery thread!

My Hype2 hasn't even returned from the first stop in a private review tour, and Linsoul already have Hype10 :dt880smile:

Kind of puzzling that Linsoul does not release any graph for Hype4 and Hype10. Maybe the graph looks very very close, so they don't want to people to just look at the graph and dismiss whatever benefit (might or might not exist) that comes from stacking driver?

I'm not sure about the physical longevity of the Hype series, but I like the bass from the dual woofers. If the midrange is more detailed, it might be a good buy. But then, again, the big question mark is the Monarch Mk III. Should you get 10BA+2DD or just go with 2EST + something + 2DD and see what the fuss is about with Sonion EST drivers?
There is a graph they posted for the Hype 4, it looks pretty nice and they say it's supposed to be their studio monitor reference style tuning ("in line with the MKII, Clairvoyance, and Oracle." The Hype 10 they're saying has a 10db bass shelf and should be more musical..

Honestly both are really tempting to me but the Hype 10 with the 2DD + 2BA bass is super interesting. I was gonna purchase that HBB x Jupiter if it came in around 1k or less but now maybe the Hype 10 will work....I'll let you guys test them out for me first though lol

Would we be considered members of the trade if we aren't making this for profit?
The price of the IEM would be free, supported by donations. The donation structure would be a minimum amount donated and after that someone could donate anything they want to further the cause.

Is the SSP still worth it in this age of competitive budget sets?
I will be real, if you can catch it during one of the sales events, it's absolutely worth it. Hell, I'd buy it full price again with no issues. If you want a beater that's inexpensive, get either the OG 7hz Zero or the Truthear Hola. If you want something a bit more refined that will last you a long time, I can fully recommend the SSP.

Well I got a Kiwi Ears Dolce, Cadenza, 7hz Zero 2, Blon Z300, and Juzear Clear all on the way so I probably don't need another budget set lol

That's what I said after I spent like 3k on sub $500 IEMs.

Confucious once said wise men don't buy 10 budget sets and buy TOTL asap but that advice got lost in translation 🤣

I have all of those except the Dolce and the Zero 2 is on the way. It's probably a wise decision to stay clear, your wallet will thank you.
Ya I want to maybe save up for the Oriveti OD200 and Juzear 41T.

Man, 3k can get you an Elysian Annihilator ...

Or a used U12T and something that tickles your fancies. Maybe Elysian Diva or something.

I've been thinking on the u12t or Diva for my next IEM purchase, depends how much I like my Supernova and S8 which are in transit right now.

Annihilator is a lot of money, even for hardcore audiophiles.

That would be interesting. A community IEM? Great idea
Would be interesting to get a community IEM going but I can foresee some red tape at the same time.

I already know a few folks here on headfi that are sponsors that will be willing to make whatever folks want them to make but if we have the name discovery attacted to it. Will we all have to declare members of the trade?

I suppose I can ask the admins on headfi if something like that is possible.

If I remember correct. V moda a long time ago started a community thread on headfi wanting feedback for a new product and and that was somewhat sucessful. Hmm.

There was this community tuned earbud called the EARBUDS ANONYMOUS. It was sold by Penon actually.

Well, I bought one and sold it away ASAP haha, it was quite anonymous in sound IMHO as per its namesake, compared to other similarly priced earbuds. And cable was not detachable zzzz.

I’m also getting back to DIY earbuds. Someone showed me the necessary tools to make my MMCX earbud project possible.

Let us know if you will be selling your earbuds man, will definitely be interested.

Well the Annihilator live up to its namesake in annihilating wallets LOL. But it is one of the most resolving IEMs I've tried, definitely lives up to the TOTL tag.

The price is another story though. Massive diminishing returns as per going to the TOTL bracket.

Since it says "Price TBD," maybe they'll have a change of heart and come in less than the $300 mark that we've heard about.
Probably not though...
