You don’t need them :dt880smile:

These can offer better price/performance, but it doesn’t matter since you have Z1R AND Monarch II. Even the birds and the jewels might not be relevant given such collection.

...but I want them? 😫

Need to share this post, I don't own either but this is very interesting to me🤔. There might be some tuning done due to shell and materials.

From KZ FB group. Mids has different energy according to one I know.
Its from HiFri, he is an IEM DIY-er who have dissect many2 iems.
He is uniquely a bit more of Driver reviewer than IEM reviewer. Also occasionally sold custom DIY IEM.

There rest of the comparison image by HiFri
Tangzu Wan'er and Tangzu Encounter driver, guess which one is which.

Do you know any cheap but good IEM with sonion EST? I am thinking about adding an IEM with good EST implementation. Of course the monarch II is an option, but what else
How cheap?
There were $400-500 USD mofasest Trio last time and I bit the bullet.

I have mofasest trio, the cheapest IEM with sonion EST but the "valley of trap" on 6khz is big caveat for me even though they have great layering (for their class), treble sensitive people will like the 6khz scoop, even HBB said he like that scoop without losing any details but for me, that valley kills so much details and energy.

TLDR = too safe for me on trebles and the bio cellulose DD sounded organic but not tight enough. Good parts are great layering, nice mids , beautiful shell.
*note : don't compare them with monarch mkII

Wan'er is a very popular and well rated model. No wonder they want to use their best ideas to the max. Zetian Wu and HBB Zetian Wu Heyday also differ technically only the housing and the tuning is very similar.

And at times people have an emotional connection to build materials.
If the new design improves the sound a bit, then if the price is reasonable, why not?
But of course, they should be honest about it :)

Agree there, it's still interesting they re use drivers. More premium package then cost go up.

Totally agree I do listen with my eyes also, perfect looking IEMs can alter my final impressions 👍😅

Wow, @Redcarmoose is totally missing the opportunity to continue to rave about one of his favourite IEMs ever - cheapest Sonion EST implementation, one of the most glowing massive reviews, and surely @Redcarmoose should have all the time to select the most perfectly matching cable for the experience of the lifetime to share!?

We all have biases on a range of levels.....from branding, to color, to driver methodology......much of it is not totally understood. But there have been a few IEMs I didn't want to own (just cuz how they looked) no matter how good they sounded.

Shozy Magma on HiFiGo which are most of the time on sale. They're a hidden gem for users who already heard them. I've got them since last summer.

Good recommendation. I like most of the frequency response except the above 10kHz. Will keep an eye for a sale.

All of my gears are out of battery, so I’m back to the basic tonight: FiiO KA3 with various IEMs.

Ironically, likely because of the poorer implementation of single ended output on the KA3, the U12T sounds not as compelling and dynamic over 3.5mm comparing to the freaking JD7 over balanced.

Seriously, good portable audio is affordable nowadays. One buys kilobuck because one wants kilobuck, not because it is the only way to get a satisfying listening session.

Btw, I’m listening to Bach album by Sean Shibe. The guitar performance is exquisite, and the recording is so beautiful. It’s a joy to listen with an IEM with good treble extension.

Edit: the sheer detail retrieval advantage of U12T is still there, but the dynamic nature of U12T is somewhat reduced, whilst JD7 over balanced of KA3 retains all of its dynamic, thus less detailed but more engaging. Anyhow, M6U has enough battery, so bye KA3 :dt880smile:

I would wait for the pitchforks Jeff has not opened the drivers to see the DD itself!

If in fact they are the Exactly 💯 same, then let the burning 🔥 begin. Both SeeAudio and Tangzu have some good explanation to give us.
