Juzear Defiant - First Impressions

As I already expressed the Objective impressions let's talk about how is it as <$100 IEM ? (In my opinion)

To start things off - Huge bass-shelf with very defined midrange (almost to a point where I though it could've used some 1khz recession). On the first listen, this combination felt very unlike a regular V Shaped/U Shaped IEM. Every enveloping and physical bass can be noticed here. Hip-Hop just shines with this IEM. The treble though is not as pronounced as the bass or the mids, they are a bit safely tuned in the lower half, and there might be reasons for that as this is a Zeos Collab. The safeness of the treble also will cost a bit of up-front nature of the details (micro-contrasts). But on the other hand it feels smooth and fatigue free even after 3/4 hours of loud listening sessions. And as far as I can remember, these are meant for "No Slouch Fun Sound", and it never failed to deliver that.

To set a benchmark, it can comfortably compete with ZiiGaat Arcadia, which is a $200 IEM. This will give you an idea of how competitive it is. Now, this is not fair (for other companies). Juzear just almost killed the competition with this move (I haven't reviewed the AFUL EXPLORER so I can't say anything about that IEM & it seems they are quite competetive).

The $99 price-tag is ridiculous, even after that the IEM Box and Cable quality is not compromised even a bit ( like HOWWWWWWW?) . As I am writing this review, I already shot the Review for ZiiGaat Arcadia & FatFreq Deuce , which is funnily enough collaborations of a fellow reviewer who also likes bass. And both of them don't even stand a chance infront of this IEM if we talk about value-proposition. Offcourse, tech is a bit better in Arcadia but it costs 2X and it is not as refined as the Defiant as a Basshead set. And let's not talk about Deuce.

IDK how Zeos did it, but at this price Defiant is a blind buy & nothing else. ( The green colour looks diabolical )

Does anyone know what FIIO's non-oversampling filter does? Is it mimicing the sound of an R2R, or is it just skipping oversampling, making it a distortion fest?
This should be the typical Cirrus Logic DAC filter options of the CS43198. So the later, but some people call this "the most pure signal", correct reconstruction of frequencies is sometimes overrated .
Keep in mind that NOS on other DACs can mean something completely different.

If someone is interested more deeply in filter options, look here:

Oh i forgot to mention. As long you use a modern DAC/Amp, you don't have to worry about Crosstalk.

This here is my 50$ DAWN PRO

And this here is the 3.5mm of my cheap Sharp Aquos Sense 7 that i bought 2 years ago for 300 bucks (an average smartphone with 3.5mm jack)

Absolutely nothing to worry about. But at 3.5mm, you have have lower output impedance (better for sensitive low-ohm devices) and you have half the volume, which means you can crank up the volume --> higher quality.

Give more love to 3.5mm. Yes i know, the 4.4mm crosstalk is, theoretically, not existing, but you probably will not be able to hear crosstalk at -110db, so enjoy your 3.5mm worry free and the benefits of lower output impedance and better THD+N with it.

Absolutely.

After some trial and error I have settled on 3.5mm for two all BA sets with 5 and 7 ohm impedance due to the lower noise floor, lower output impedance and increased volume range.

I use 4.4mm for everything else because that is what I have not because it really makes a notable difference, not to me at least.

As you indicated the poorer cross talk spec of 3.5mm is not audible (to me) anyway. I often use cross talk intentionally so I figure a slight increase in it due to the single ended connection isn’t going to matter.

I posted this in the mid-priced cables thread; however, I’m posting here for a little more attention…

I'm needing some advice for a cable to use my Project M's. First, I love the staging that the Project M brings to the table. Additionally, I like the bass control it has. Now, this is all while using the stock cable.

I don't want to lose then great attributes of the Project M; however, I would like to add more weight to the sound, especially in the vocals. Now, I don;’ want to lose the highs at the same time.

Is there such a thing as a Gold Plated pure Silver cable?

I just find it fascinating that you and others feel the need to post to poo poo such things with no personal experience of them.
Pot meet kettle.

I think you're confusing crosstalk for crossfeed. Two different things.

I must admit, I quite like the look of these shells. I only have one green set, the Darker, but these look like something I could use outdoor.

Great impressions! Seems like they nailed the "fun-first" tuning with the Defiant. That massive bass shelf paired with defined mids sounds like a refreshing twist from typical V shaped sets. If it's genuinely punching at the level of the Arcadia at half the price, that's a huge win for budget bassheads and even an easy path for people to be introduced to basshead sets. This shade of green looks amazing too. I'm definitely intrigued by your take on the Deuce comparison...sounds like the Defiant really brings it for the price!
