Refurb HD558, currently at $102 shipped on amazon from dahmart. I picked up a pair, will definitely do the tape mod. At this price it seems like a no-brainer for anyone remotely interested in a HD558, seeing as if you didnt like them you could easily sell them for more than you paid.

Vsonic might be licensing the GR02 design from an OEM instead of doing the design and manufacture themselves. This would allow any other company to license out the design and rebrand it for their own use. It's how the Fischer Audio DBA-02 and Brainwavz B2 are the same headphone.

I am interested in the Brainwavz M3.  Do you know if it is a copy of any other brand in particular?  Or are there any other low-priced IEM with a similar sound signature.

Brainwavz licenses ViSang IEM's. Here's Joker's review from a while ago. http://www.head-fi.org/t/493893/review-brainwavz-m1-taking-visang-off-steriods I have a pair too. They're decent. Better than anything else I can think of at $30, but I've been out of touch with the new IEM market, so take that with a grain of salt.

And the M3 is the ViSang R04. They're as much copies as the Fischer Audio FA003 and DBA-02 are, which are...not copies. They're legitimately licensed. I can't think of an IEM with a really similar sound sig. The MEElectronics A151 has a similar warm sig, but they're not remotely similar. I like mine, but they were at pre-order price. I'm not sure $90 is that great for them, but I can't really think of alternatives.
