It was kind of a disappointing shopping season, but I managed to find most of what I was looking for anywhere from 20-50% off.  The big ticket items were closer to the 20%, while the smaller accessories were at 50%.  It was worth waiting, though, as I saved enough to be happy.  I also was successful with the low price guarantee on some sites and got refunds on price differences for recently purchased items.

A lot of the items were quietly discounted or rebated for only a day or two, so you had to be refreshing Amazon and the other big sites more than once a day to catch the deals.

The discounts were good on low-end and refurbished electronics, but as usual, the high-end stuff was only shaved 10-20% at most.

I was thinking of waiting out for Christmas, but remembered how crazy shipping gets (things get delayed as the entire system slows down), so I figured it'd be better to pay a bit more now but have my stuff ready to go going into the Christmas vacation break :)  Will be keeping a close eye on deals but I don't think prices will get discounted much overall from what we saw this last week, especially given that a lot of retailers reportedly did a good job with their numbers for November.

This was by far the worst black friday and cyber monday that I can recall.  Absolutely nothing but that Triple Fi 10 was worth it on Amazon, The phiaton 320 sold out in 0 seconds, literally the instant it went live it was out of stock, word of some HD 598s for around $150.

That was pretty much it :\  I was actually waiting for some furniture to go on sale at some retailers but they didn't lol...I'm kind of upset :P

And no deals at head-direct? Everyone was waiting for the half-price RE272's and HE-500.

I'd rather play games on a console than that piece of junk.

Me too I'd rather buy a NeoGeo.

lol half price he500?  If only! No, no deals at head direct that I am aware of, I checked back a few times and didn't see anything reduced.  Same for Headphone.com ( headroom ) no sales at all

Metal Slug is still a fun party game after all these years :)

I doubt we'll see any further discounts on Hifiman headphones in 2011.  The recent MSRP cuts were pretty significant and I don't think Hifiman will further erode their brand equity with lower prices.  I'd love to see a sale on the HE-300 and HE-500 beyond the most recent MSRP cuts, but just don't see it happening.

Headphone.com and Headphones.com are different places Your link is to headphones.com, which simply doesn't carry any of the orthos or really anything of interest to me right now.

This is Headphone ( headroom )

I wish I'd had the funds for the HD 600 deal...I really want a pair. Couldn't bring myself to cut that much into my speaker fund after my Q cable, Woo Stand, and TF10s though...

^ I hear ya, but I was saving and attempting patience in hopes of an HE500 actually going on sale.  Moon audio was the only one who had it for a slightly reduced price, not sure if they are still offering the small discount though.

The HE500 is an excellent headphone. I could see myself owning one again in a few years after my system is complete, but my speaker system is mainly what I'm working towards now. Should be done by this time next year.

Lol ya, its good enough to use right out of my J3 with no amp.  I don't have an amp, lol, cant afford both but I thought the HE500 is good enough to get despite not having one for now.  I will HAPPILY endure another paycheck or two without an amp :P
