I have not listened to my DT880's in a month... Still loving the German Maestro's. I just wonder what the open GMP 400's sound like?

I just know if I move the DT880's pads over to the 8.300 D's I'll never put them back on the beyers. The velours on the GMP's are nice but I keep looking at those silvery pads and wondering...

I got to hear some 880's at a meet recently. I liked the sound, more than I thought I would, but the bass sounded a little 'undefined' for lack of a better word, lacking a bit of texture maybe. Is that likely the phones or more probably just a bad source. I must say I didn't think any phones could equal the comfort of my HD600's but those did,  extremely comfortable!

Do you know what system you heard them on? The times I heard the DT 880 I personally found their bass to be lacking a little bit in terms of texture compared to their neutral competitors the HD 600 and the K612.

E10 is just bass boost, E7 and E17 has the adjustable EQ.

That's about the cheapest I've ever seen the 600 ohm version, and it's been a while since any version of the DT880 was that cheap. In fact, that's about what you would have paid back in 2003 when the model was first refreshed.

Any fence-sitters out there might want to jump on this. I highly doubt this price will be seen again any time soon once this stock runs out.

Well the DT880 Pro is always around $200 on Amazon (its got to be one of the best values in headphones, if not the best) but I agree, that is an excellent price for any of the Premium versions, particularly the 600 ohm. Now's the time to buy.

With DT880 Pro, I think you get coiled cable and no carry case. I like the premium straight cables and the case - and the 600 ohm to boot. As others have said, the DT880 600 are priced extremely well  at 219. Go for it.

You get a carrying case with the DT 880 Pro(not the DT 990 Pro though), but yeah it does have a coiled cable and also the build is a bit different, it also has a stronger clamp which effects comfort and sound some. Yeah, I think the DT 880 600 ohm for $220 is as cheap as they are going to get and well worth going for at the price.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say, I love the coiled cable of the Pro. Before I got my Pros I used my DT770 Premium 600 ohm a whole lot. I don't mind long cables, I prefer them to short cables unless its purely a portable headphone, but I like the coiled cable of the DT880 Pro a lot more than the straight cable of the 770 Premiums. It makes everything much easier because I don't need to wrap the cable thru my headphone holder or bother with tangled cables. The coil seems to be just about perfect, its quite short when you're not pulling on it yet I can walk around my room and stretch it out w/o it pulling my small G109 amp off the desk. It works out perfectly for me, YMMV. Either way you get a quality cable. The cables on my HD600 and K712 look and feel a lot cheaper than the Beyer cables do. I just wish they were detachable.

First time posting. I bought the X1 for $150 last week and contemplating on picking up the DT880 Premium for $220 also..is it better than the X1? Thanks!
