Hey guys, DT880's just went up for sale if you're interested. Going off to college in a few months I just don't think I can hang on to an open pair of cans, especially since I'm liking the DT770's so much. Sorry to leave so soon

I'm looking for some "portable DT880“, what would you guys recommend?

The DT1350 might have what you're looking for.

Right now I'm using the dt880 600 ohm with the asus essence stx. I was wondering if its worth upgrading to an tube amp such as the Little Dot MK III? From my research I've gotten nothing but conflicting reports. Some say the STX is able to drive the 600 ohm just fine while others say it will sound lifeless. Would using the DOT MKIII + essence STX be worth looking into? Budget is around 400 so I can go a little higher than the little dot. Open to suggestions.

Few days ago i became a proud owner of DT 880 premium 600 ohm version. I also own sennheiser HD 600. Maybe its strange but to me HD 600 is more comfortable. DT have shallower earpads and my ears press on the foam covering the driver, also after longer listening im starting to feel weight of the phones on the headband. Can u suggest some mods, tweaks to make them more comfotable to me?

I've had the DT880, DT990, T1, all 600 ohm....I got the HE-4 last week, and I have sold the DT990, and T1 because the HE-4 filled the need for them.  I still have the DT880, but it is no match for the HE-4, which is a good step up to what the DT880 lacks!

Please lets stop this talk about the HE--4. I have it on my wish list on Amazon. Every time I login, it takes effort not to pull the trigger on these phones. But in time I believe I will eventually give in.

Just purchased a used DT880 Premium 250, and they came with these black pads. Can someone confirm if these are the original black velour pads sold by Beyer?

Yep, those are the EDT 990 VB which are identical in every way to the pads that come on the DT880 except that they are black instead of silver. I use them on my DT880 as well.

How hard is it to change the pads out? If it isn't that big a deal, I'd like to switch over to the black pads myself.

Simple to take off - they are just wrapped over the edge of the earcup and slip off with little effort. They can be a little hard to get back on again (especially when new) but heating up the plastic at the back of the pad to soften it a little can help.
