Not sure why I used the phrase 'a little' so much just then

That looks nice, would you be able to run octal ont that amp?
Not without serious mods, already tried the 6H9C in it, there is only 6V on the plate so it was distortion city with the Reflektor tube. :D

Have you heard them? The 990 is an 880 with increased bass and treble. Since the 880 has enough bass and certainly enough treble already the choice seems simple.

Was not a fan of 990. Too much treble. Super detailed, but sounded like listening to a tin can with that treble and bass.

i auditioned both but both sounded great to me. while 880 sounded better overall 990 has its charm unlike anything i've heard. maybe i should get both.

Power was off for a while today, so I fired up Dave Brubeck's "Time Out" vinyl rip in 24/192 on the X3/E12 combo to the DT880's... A little audio bliss for a cold, rainy, powerless afternoon. :)

They're not cheap but they're worth it IMO. I much prefer these to the dirt cheap pads (in quality not price) that so many headphones use.

EDIT: The ones on Amazon are out of stock. The other 3 are in stock.
