I've been on a U2 kick the last few days.....
As promised, here are some sound impressions of the R3 Pro vs the R3. It sounds similar to the R3 with just a bit better sub bass, better instrument placement, and a bit wider soundstage. I used the exact same settings on both the R3 and the R3 pro and A/B'ed them using my Hylas. Where you really notice the difference between them is the extra 100mW per channel from the 2.5mm balanced output. I would say that if you already have the R3 and don't have any issues running whatever IEMs or headphones currently, the R3 Pro isn't exactly necessary, but it is a bit better. I'm still glad I bought it and I just listed my R3 for sale because I'm keeping the Pro.
Wow, the R3 sold super fast, less than 45 minutes, lol.
That's super fast.
ALO warehouse has some really good deals for cables. I just picked up a litz ($29) and pure silver ($49).
The Effect Audio Vogue series tour cables arrived today. Time to do some cable swapping and listening. These things sure look good:
Speaking of cables, the ALO Warehouse Deals site has some insane discounts on cables and IEMs at the moment.
ALO Gold16 $350 reduced from $999
ALO SPC Litz (old style stock Campfire Audio cable) - $29 from $149
Ref 8 $99 from $299
Pure Silver Litz (CA Atlas stock cable) $49 from $249
Ended up getting 5 balanced cables plus two interconnects - passed up on the Gold 16 though...
Sure a few people in here may take an interest! (Hint hint @OldDude04 )
Edit - NVM, had this chambered in my phone to send and just saw someone beat me to it!
geez that would buy one interconnect at DHC
Shows you how over priced cables are.
Those are purrrty. How do they sound?
Well... it is not yet Wednesday so the Word of the Week (WOW) is still "Song"
I mentioned that no one had posted a certain song that was big on MTV way back in the 80's
... that is the original but there were quite a few live performances from Farm Aid over many years.
He did it again when he performed during his induction to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
To be fair, I prefer my Effect Audio Origin cable to the Vogue series in sound, but looks go to the Vogues hands down. The sound differences between the 3 vogue cables are very minute to me so far, I don't think any of them will change an IEM's basic sound profile. I'll spend more time with them in the next few days and see if anything changes for me. Great price for getting into EA cables though.
Got some BGVP DMS in today, and I'm not mad at them. They sound alot like my CA Polaris 2's at $300 less which is impressive. I'm going to give them a bit of a burn in and listen more tomorrow.
I've got both the DMG and the DMS. It does take a little while to burn in, but once they do, sounds great. I just really like their signature.
