I just got confirmation that my Vali 2++ is due back today, quick turn-around at no cost for the repair. Got to love Schiit, they stand by their gear. Also ordered the Hiby R4 to replace the R3 Pro (which has seen some extensive usage and the buttons are becoming non-responsive). Looking forward the hearing the signature and seeing how the footprint will compare against the R3. I know it's going to be significantly larger so will see how the carry aspect works out.

The GrayRhino is a great cable, non-microphonic and very soft. A nice match to the Kiwi Melody.

For those who might be looking for a very good DAC at a very affordable price. Today I have been getting playtime with my new SMSL D6s DAC that I got about a week ago, feeding a Topping L50 Amp and Hifiman Sundara closed back. It shows you that you do not need to spend a bundle to have really great sounding gear these days. The bluetooth option is also very good and handy. I bought mine at full price of about 180 UK Pounds and with the extra Irish VAT, it works out at 186. I am very tempted to buy another, even though I already have way more than I need. It has one of the latest Sabre DAC chips, which is more musical and not a little clinical like the previous version. It sounds very vibrant, fuller and involving and has lost that Sabre glare.

It does look awesome, but the 600mW max output kills it for me. The FatFreq Scarlets just take too much juice. They're thirsty little sumbiches lol.
Yeah that's definitely a problem. Though, my Hiby RS6 was rated at 600 mW and I didn't notice any issue driving my thirsty planars. I still may buy it. I have plenty of other IEMs and headphones. The tubes are calling me....Oh Jeffrey you need me in your life.. ..LOL 😆

I just bought the green highlighted one of the R4. Delivery next week, maybe?
