Tempotec V3 DAP - small, powerful, functional with Hiby OS

Tested it.
Controlling playback or volume with a 3.5mm remote cable doesn't work on TempoTec V3. Neither does it on HiBy R2 II.
So, most likely - HiBy OS related.

Thanks again. It was mentioned on HiBy and Shanling threads a DAP needs to include hardware, probably some IC, to enable the cable playback controls. My older R3 Pro could do it, and there is a setting to enable/disable it. I guess HiBy did away with that feature on newer DAPs like your R2.

Unfortunately for me, my R3 Pro has somehow got stuck on its balanced 2.5mm phone out, so I can not use my 3.5mm port any more.

Is there a setting for gapless playback? [...] Maybe you could test yours with a Gapless album.

I am referring to Stream media, not internal files.

Nope, gapless playback via streaming is not supported - tested it with Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" played using Tidal.

Local files play seamlessly.

I haven't owned any of these, sadly.

I had Qudelix-5K for a few months, but this was almost two years ago.

Moreover - the only BT earphones that are in my rotation are Moondrop Space TWS.
I don't feel in a position to write about BT.

Thanks for this, appreciated!

Given the Hiby OS and power specs is there any real difference between the V3 and, say, the Hiby R3ii?
That would be for others here to chime in on, I would have no idea, sorry.

Cheers!!

I’d say if you have hungry 3.5mm IEM’s, then the V3 is the better option.

I own both , and the main differences are on headphone power and battery life. YMMV but I have gotten 10 hours out of the V3 with very hungry 3.5mm IEM’s running at 80% volume in high gain (which is very impressive)

The UI is identical, would also give the nod to loading album art to the V3, but neither are ideal (compared to smartphone album art load).

The V3 is 10mm taller as well, but it’s also one hand operated, and I much prefer the volume buttons as opposed to the wheel on the Hiby R3 II.

we can talk about the sound all day, but at this stage of DAC advancement, I’m more a believer in synergy. For instance the IEM I’m using now work far better with either my TempoTec BHD Pro or TempoTec V3 ( different DAC’s oddly ) than using them with my Topping G5 or just amplified with the Topping L30 II which both have impeccable measurement specs.

Synergy can mean everything, I firmly believe in this!

I have had DACs over the years that worked phenomenally in one system and sucked in another! I know some folks will say DAC Chips have no sound, that's why I said DACs... :L3000:

Cheers!!
