Thanks HFAUDIOPHILE for the clear upgrades highlighted

There's no such thing as "clear upgrades". Every IEMs out there have their own weaknesses and strengths, and that's still highly subjective. What others think as "clear upgrade" does not necessarily means it'll be an upgrade for you too, lol.

No worries I'll buy the FitEar 334 and K3003 then choose myself what I prefer

That's actually the best way to go in my opinion, especially if you can afford it.

i enjoyed my 232 but i have something more in the mid.

232's mid will be thinner if a lot bass in song. i need mid to be warm, rich, more forward

232's bass is great but not fast in some j-rock song i have. it's become weak when have to keep pace with the speed in that song
The soundstage is ok. but i want it a little wider for more comfortable to listen in long time

the high is amazing (i love how the violin perform on 232).i really don't know how it's can be better in another iem.

Ps; heir 8a with can be my upgrade. i think you should consider it. depend on many review of it i read. it's take care all of the weakness of 232 i mentioned.

I have the 232 and recently sold my JH13's. I preferred the 232 with grey filters over the JH13. I have also read posts where people who have tested the K3003 against the 232 and preferred the 232. The point is that there is no clear upgrade, it depends on your subjective tastes. I would ask the OP what do you currently like about the 232 and what would you like improved?

Well my K3003 arrived today and I must say initial impressions are good, i need to use them longer before I can determine if the signature is an improvement against the 232. However I may have found my ultimate universal.

Having said that I am really keen on the Fitear 334....

Congrats! I've been wanting to try them for a while now. Please let us know about your impressions once you've gotten use to the sound signature.

I think the next upgrade to a PFE232 would be a significant price jump.  I have them and the UE900's.  I had the IE80's, X10's, and I, too, have been wondering what kind of upgrade there could be for the 232's.  The 900's give a more clear mid, but they don't have quite the punch of 232 and the crisp highs; however very close.
I was looking into the Unique Melody Miracle's or the Final Audio Design, but when we are playing at this level of money, its hard to take the plunge without getting to hear them :-(.  Plus, I use the iPhone a lot for work, so I want something that won't require an amp to sound good, and I like having a mic so I don't have to rip out the headphones and break the seal to answer a call.
At the same time, I wonder to what extent this pursuit is simply my addiction and its refusal to let me experience contentment.  I mean, how much better does it really get?!

sonickarma,

I could see that your gear collection is phenomenal.

Have you found your upgrade from PFE232?

What's your top 3 universals now?

My current top 3 universals are:
  • Flat4  Kaede - (then Kuro)
  • FitEar togo334
  • PFE232

I personally feel the items 1 and 2 on my list along with k3003 are an upgrade for my ears - using the word loosely as sound is subjective

What source was you using though. Out of a smartphone then yeah you might think the mids need enhancing and treble fleshing out. Using something like clas -db is a different level
