Anyone have recommendations on where to get the wood cup grill material from? I tried a kitchen sieve I bought from a hardware shop but it isn't very solid/refined. Any particular types of mesh people often use to get a finished, professional look here?

I used a couple of cheap tea strainers from my local supermarket.  The wire is stainless steel and a little on the thin side, but not bad looking on my stock plastic cups.  Though probably not refined enough for woodies.  The result is a slightly dished grille.  Much cheaper than the DIY stores around here.

A lot of folks get pencil holders and magazine racks from dollar stores and cut them up...

I recommend seaching for 'stainless wire mesh' at eBay! http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAINLESS-STEEL-WOVEN-WIRE-MESH-filter-grading-sheet-/251198345904?pt=UK_BOI_Medical_Lab_Equipment_Lab_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item3a7c9692b0 <- Here's a seller that has good info to boot, altho I've seen some sellers waaay cheaper. Search and thee shall find! I seem to remember measuring the stock mesh on my SR-325's at 12 squares per inch. I'm not sure if that translatse into #12 or #14, but I would say that a #10 mesh would do well. Going with a wider mesh seems absurd, but then again it's your choice

EDIT: Store link, for when auction runs out: http://stores.ebay.com/Inoxia-Ltd?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

Nice, exactly what I was looking for! Do you have a mesh size to recommend?

Yeah, #10 as mentioned in my previous post :)

Whoops, totally didn't read that properly before posting. Thanks for the helpful recommendation!

Does anyone know if applying finish to the inside of the cup affects sound quality?
