As the firmware focus is on raising the 1A to the 1Z sound I've always wondered how the pure 1A firmware/tuning would sound on a 1Z.

I tested this a long while back with Bogdan in a pre release firmware. Didn’t really meet the mark so we scrapped it. This was way before Walkman one.

I've been very happy with your suggestion and enjoying it a lot! Its just that I had to "leave" the bass endorsement I was developing, because this modded 1Z is very good at going deep. So its very tempting to follow that route.
Also I've just bought the new Ares S cable from Effect Audio and that adds the body missing (in my world)! Thanks for the suggestion! Appreciated!
J3 improves over MX3
U has a lot of bass muscle, but it gets tiering when you actually starts to listen!
J is awesome , but lacks bass and treble defination. You get all of that in J3
E is also pretty good, but I don't like the slight echo there (see the Mindstorm map)
All is just for inspiration!

Yeah, there’s just so many combinations that would work with Walkman one. You just have to play around and find the sound that you like. Just found a NW-A35, flashed the Walkman One and it sounds great! Btw anyone know how the region will change the sound since MrWalkman did say so on his blog. My currently setup is WM1Z tuning profile with MX3 region and Plus v2 mode

What's the settings for the absolute warmest thickest signature?

Hmm. The golden question. And my preferred signature. I assume you’re using a 1A. After having tested probably hundreds of software test versions and fine tuning etc, the current Walkman one has a signature for everyone from bright sounding to warm sounding. I use the wm1z sound sig with region J3, DAC mode on normal, plus mode v2. This gives me the warmest, fullest yet detailed enough sound. I haven’t budged from this setting in months.

Yes the different regions change the sound. It’s best to try them all and see which one you like. The most popular ones at J3, J, MX3. Here’s a chart done by a forumer some time back just to give you a rough idea on what the different regions sound like. I use J3 and think it’s the best for my tastes.

I'd love to one day see a chart including the new regions and firmwares. I find it helpful to draw attention to different aspects of the music as I can be quite simplistic in my approach limiting myself to focusing on bass and staging.
After being on J3 since it became available I recently went back to trying E and MX3 but found J3 to be an ideal balance. Owning the 1Z I can't help but feel that Sony knew what they were doing so stick with that tuning.
