My first headphone was a Sennheiser HD414 with the yellow foam cushions
The HD414 was the first Sennheiser I head in 1975. It came out around 1969, I think?

I started with $20 sony fontopia IEMs a JVC discman in the 90s and in 00s moves to first sony NC can, the MDR-NC6 and a 1.0GB sony walkman NW-E507 with crappy 192kbps mp3 lol.
In 2012 was my iPod classic that made me switch to FLAC, and 2015 my zx100 to keep 24-bit flac untouched and 2017 my wm1A to keep DSD

I heard Iron Man on the HD414 then the Koss (closed backs) when I was 13. The Koss were better.

nah , i think love of music is more important

everyone starts with a 100$ iem , money is an issue on how deep the rabbithole you are gonna keep falling after you have been initially addicted :xf_cool:
Words of wisdom well beyond his years. It's all about the music first and foremost, without the music just wires & batteries...

The X1060 is what started me on the route I’ve taken, it might be urban legend, however being in the UK, there was a story that the department store John Lewis managed to secure some from Japan for release day as there weren’t any EU ones, and the serial numbers up to 150 were from there (no volume limits etc), I got serial number 144 (quite cool that I got such an early release one)…

i bought a second hand UK one a few years later with a much higher serial number, and there is a very slight difference, knowing what we know now - probably different regions in the firmware.

I'm pretty set on buying myself a WM1A as a graduation present...

Just a couple more months to go.

I must be pretty out of the ordinary for refusing to spend more than around S$300 on my mobile phone (Moto G represent) but am somehow okay with dropping S$1600 on a music player
