Thanks to everyone who tried to help with advice for a full-size headphone similar to the IER-Z1R. Based on your comments and my own experience, I think I'll need to wait 'till 2021 to get my wish.
But, more importantly... A couple of pages back I shared an Iron Maiden song that I thought was great and also sounded particularly great with the IER-Z1R. A number of people liked the post, which I take to mean that they either knew the song and thought it was a good recommendation or that they enjoyed hearing it for the first time.
However, what I was hoping for was that other people would feel inspired to share their own "favorite Z1R song". None did however. This is even more surprising because people generally have this instinctive reaction to want to share what they think is cool whenever they have the opportunity. And yes, I get that this a gear forum, but we're not listening to white noise thorough our gear, are we? It's quite relevant to talk music from time to time.
And I'll be honest. I was a bit bored with my music collection and wanted to add something fresh. You guys let me down. But! It's not too late for you to make it up to me (and everyone else who's in a similar position). So I'm issuing this formal challenge to anyone owning a Z1R: whenever you have a moment where something sounds particularly good to you, please take the 5 minutes to share it in this thread. It can be once or two times a week (we wouldn't want to spam the thread), but it has to be something that truly impressed you.
You are absolutely right, I’ve been looking for new music to listen to, but all the websites I’ve visited lead to the same albums.
Jason Mraz The studio album collection.
Eric clapton Clapton chronicles.
Allan Taylor Color to the moon.
California Burak Yeter, Nino Lucarelli
The Prince Karma Later Bitches
They are a pretty musical pair. If you like warmth, this pair would be great. The only downside might be that sound staging is not spacious as Hugo 2 pairing. However, it does not necessarily leave you to want more.
Well, it seems like I've never actually had a proper seal with my Z1R's until today. Tried some double flange tips and OMG - what a difference. Never going back to the LL silicone tips...

Try some triple flange too if you have some available. For me they are surprisingly comfortable, even considering I had fit issues with the z1r. And the general wisdom is that deeper insertion is better for the z1r, something I was never really able to achieve with single flange tips... Either the iems hurt my ears, or they just would slowly slide out. Triple flange seems to have fixed both issues. They are relatively comfortable (still working through itchyness) and I get the deepest insertion I can with them.
And to keep the music suggestions coming, been listening to the album "places" by il:lo lately. Really good. And two of my old stand by albums to listen to are acoustic and acoustic ii by above and beyond. They all sound really great on the z1r... Though I haven't come across anything that doesn't.
I have been using some random large ones I had in my tip collection. Pretty sure they are Mee audio tips that I likely had with my Mee p1. Just bought some random ones on Amazon that also fit but I don't know which they are off the top of my head... Want to try some etymotic tips, but don't know which will fit.
Only just started with the triple flange a week or two ago, so definitely still adjusting, and as I said, biggest issue is itchyness, which I'm hoping I'll get over relatively quickly. I'll take the itchyness over pain any day though.
