At low impedance, the load draws more current.  At high impedance, draws less current at higher voltage drop at the load.

That's what I said.  We were talking about impedances of IEMs relative to amps.

^ actually no. I've edited it.  At high impedance, it draws less current.

My bad.  I don't know what "it wants" mean.  It makes it sound like it's some creature needs to be fed or something.

Alright, look.  I'm saying a high impedance phone wants more voltage while a low impedance phone wants more current.  What are you saying?  That's wrong?

He's an EE, and he provided a link to a detailed explanation.

Which agrees with what I said.  EE or not, he just misunderstood my post.  Voltage and Current is inverse to each other, basic Ohm's law.  High impedance phones want more voltage and less current.  Low impedance phones want more current and less voltage.

Enough derailing already to argue about saying the same thing.  I'd be more if said EE would go to the science forum and apply Joule's Law to our audio predicaments instead.  That would be more useful IMO.

Edit - Thank you James.

Very informative discussion indeed, from theory of relativity to Ohm's law, but all of it slightly off-topic, so please let's get back to the poodles, er, Sonys.

Shouldn't we, instead, be talking about St Bernards, ie the Sonys, rather than poodles, ie the W4s?

What do we have left to talk about?

After we found out the EX600 sounds almost the same as the EX1000, and only costs $150, no one is asking questions about the FX700, GR10 or e-Q5 anymore.

Well, I'll try to find out Monday or Tuesday as I'll have both in my possession.

IIRC no one has heard them side by side so far, so I'm looking forward to some very interesting impressions from music_4321, Anaxilus and Confispect.

Thought I'd also post the following here:

The Japanese & European EX1000 & EX600 models come with two cables (1.6m & 0.6m). The American versions only come with one cable (1.2m).

Also, both American versions of the EX1000 & EX600 come with the same EX600 cable (model RK-EX600LP) - yes, the much more expensive EX1000 comes with the thinner EX600 cable! - The European & Japanese EX1000 have the real EX1000 cables (models RK-EX1000LP & RK-EX1000SP), which are thicker but more supple than the EX600 cables (models RK-EX600LP & RK-EX600SP).
