The speakers have now been treated to two generous coats of „Clou“ liquid wax (just like the plinth). As the wax hardens and dries, the colour should lighten to match the plinth exactly:
I often wonder whether Genelec 2-ways are good for music appreciation. I went through a long & rather disappointing search for powered studio monitors that actually sound good; never managed to hear Genelecs, but often wondered.

You have to try some. They sound wonderful when paired with the right electronics. The same applies to Neumann monitors. This is already my second pair of Genelec. I've had them in anthracite before and recently bought the unpainted ones - I think that says it all. They're worth every penny
I'm going to add a DNA SET amp to replace perhaps the Euforia or the Crack
I'm going to replace the Burson with the Mjolnir 3 when it comes out late summer
I ended up not getting either the 308s and 305s for the same reasons:
balanced inputs only. yeah, probably would work w/adapters, but I was less sure of stuff like that ~4 years ago when I was on my big quest for powered monitors; and
too many user comments to the effect that both models had self-noise, in some cases enough to be problematic. any real degree of self-noise would be an immediate dealbreaker in this home office where I spend 9-12 hrs/day working and am ~3.5 ft. from the fronts of the monitors
Before I stopped looking for "the impossible dream" (powered monitors that actually sound good), I had 3 different powered systems here. 2 of the 3 were pleasant enough, but still fell short of what I knew good audio can do (I have a long history with big audiophile gear "back in the day"); the 3rd was instant disaster. I was very tempted by the Hedd Type 07 monitors, but never got them.
It all worked out. I finally decided to go with passive speakers, then stumbled into some real luck. First I found a gently used big class D amp that actually sounds very good; preamp was my V281 (superb); then paired those items with a series of terrific 2-way speakers, one pair better than the last (currently it's a vintage pair of KEF 103.2s, borderline too big for this desktop, but the sound is glorious).
If your tape deck doesn't vent to the top it's probably a good idea to put the DA-3000 on top of the tape deck. The DA-3000 seems to run pretty hot, probably due to the 1U form factor.

That's some awesome gear. I'd love to try the Atticus and Utopia someday. But you get my "like" more so for the Bible on the desk. What translation is that?
Quite satisfied with my setup, tough signal-purists wont approve my cable solution: Audio cables run through my table in a cluster.
Usability was my top priority
