Sennheiser HD 6XX series are better than any in it's price range in my opinion. I will take my HD650 over a K701 or DT880 any day.
 
HD428 is a ridiculously good portable especially when you can get it around $20 while the HD25-II is still one of the best portables out.
 
IE8 is still one of the best dynamic IEM's.

Oh please. Why would Sennheiser cut its own throat when there are so many others lining up to do it for them, like Beyer and Audeze? The 600/650 series is still incredibly popular and selling like hot cakes. And if they were discontinued, Sennheiser would have a big hole in its regular product line from the 598 to the 800. Ridiculous.

I was looking around on amazon japan, since I will be going there this summer, and decided to see how the prices were like in japan.
Oddly enough, HD600's are labeled "VINTAGE" with a price tag over a $1,000
