Rank the IEM's you've heard

Concha is around 2,5cm...so could fit. Problem could be the nozzle size. Hmm... Thanks for posting the link to hifi-passion. I ordered already other hifi stuff at this shop. They are really fast and reliable. The only source to chifi in Germany :relaxed:
Im sorry that i advertise the Monarch 2 so much but they are really amazing. Ive heard the EE Odin and Elysian Anihilator last month. The Monarchs were definitely better than the Odin (3500e!) and even slightly better (more realistic) than the Anihilator. Damn these are over 3k!

It seems you have even bigger ears than me (6,5 cm). My concha is around 2,3 cm, so it seems they would fit your ears perfectly.
If you live in Germany, you can grab them from https://hifi-passion.de/in-ear-kopfhoerer/hybrid-iem/thieaudio-monarch-mkii?c=199

Is it possible to return IEMs there? Do you know that?

No problem, I can really understand that you advertise it that much, if they are perfect for your. I think impressions with the Monarch are so different. There is thread in the german hifi forum and almost everyone complains about the comfort/fit with the Monarch Mk2.

The Odin are really big, too. How was the comfort? Where did you try the Annihilator in Germany? The EE stuff is really too expensive in Germany.

Not open box as far as I know

Not sure.. It was possible before corona crap. Now can be problematic but everything loosen up, even i Germany. But people here are crazy about this crap. IQ 65 :joy:

Too bad they changed that. I would also agree to a restock fee like in some US shops.

My friend has both of them- the Odin and the Anihilator. Ive tried the Odin firstly and it was inferior to the Monarchs (his chain was sp2000 + Odin that time). Even he was shocked. Ive tried the Anihilator later and it was amazing but too much treble energy, so not the most realistic sounding iem. But waaay better then the Odin.
The detail was maybe 2% more on the Anihilator but just too much treble energy. Still prefer the Monarchs. He even wanted to trade the Odin but i wasnt interested.

That's really too bad, I would like to buy the Monarch Mk2 2, but without testing it does not work, especially since I have read that the fit can be problematic.

Maybe someone of you lives in Berlin and would be willing to let me test it? I can of course also provide my gear.

Head-Fi is full of such posts, reading them for 9 years now

I’m interested in the MM2, but I very much doubt they will be so much better than the Odins in every aspect, I’ve seen too much, read to much, sorry.

Moreover I keep on reading the MM2 are uncomfortable for many, if not most reviewers. I also have large ears but obviously not the larges ear-canals. For example, the IER-Z1R where indeed „ear-rape“ for me, even the UM MEST where not bearable for me for longer than 15 minutes.

So even if the MM2s where just as good as the Odins (please forgive me when I still doubt they are _better overall_), Empire Ears managed to pack all this goodness into super comfortable shells instead of potentially hurting big ones. I read a lot of negative feedback regarding fit for the MM2…

For me the Monarch Mk2 is both of (a) slightly uncomfortable after 90 minutes, and (b) the most remarkable reproducer of symphonic rock and acoustic folk that I've ever heard. Arcade Fire, Pink Floyd, Ian Bostridge, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Treepeople, The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc - all meaningfully more mysterious and luscious through this IEM than others **that I have tried personally** (footnote because that's the point of this thread). Now, I agree, the fit thing is real. And I can't tell you whether you'll have more discomfort than I do or less, nor how you'll experience it. So for me, the net result of (a) and (b) is that I listen to this headphone a lot but not as much as some others. If I'm going to work at an office or coworking site for a whole day, I'm not going to bring 2 pairs of IEMs, so they stay at home. Which is fine. Variations, Timeless, Andromeda 2020, even Dunu Titan S, love 'em all. But would I sell this because of the discomfort? Me personally? HELL NO. And I can't say that for a single other headphone in my collection - if they were uncomfortable I'd give them away or sell them. So there, maybe that's helpful. Really encourage everyone who can to find a way to audition these through a friend or friendly local retailer. I don't know what "punch above its weight" means for a $1000 headphone. But, um, yeah.

Really good post. I think the same way. There is a reason that headphones like the Meze Elite, Liric, Empyrean are so popular, because comfort is part of music enjoyment.

Thanks for your answer. Your impressions are pretty much different from the ones in the post I was replying to. You say that the Monarch MK2 is a great specialist for you. For @RIGATIO they are a perfect allrounder (at least I understand his post accordingly). So everyone has their own preference and interpretation + comfort with different shapes of IEMs.

For me the ODINs are the perfect allrounder and the Supermoons are the perfect specialist for anything I want more bass for or a better holographic display.

There are many others I'd love to experience, for sure but impossible to try too many of them.

Btw. I also think the ODINs are too expensive. By the time I bought them, I got a steep discount on them + Dollar / Euro conversion played very nicely in my favor. So I paid "only" the equal price the U12ts cost. Still too expensive imo but I could justify that in early 2021 when I bought them. I will likely not buy another pair of IEMs that cost more than 2k. The Supermoons tell me you can do just as great for less than half of the ODINs list price, for example.

I think it must all match to personal preference. The greatest sound is not much worth if delivered in pain, as it was for me with the Sony ier-z1r. They sounded great but hurt like hell.

All my current sets of IEMs & Over-Ears are perfect (for my personal taste) sound wise & comfort wise. So I will absolutely second your statement, as long as sound quality is also great for personal taste.
