hahah yea, I was thinking about replaceing the plastic on my RS-2's with a metal grill like you did.

no the plastic vent over the driver, I would never hard mod these.

The flat surfaced cups on the RS-1 and RS-2 series from Grado does stick out slightly more than the standard cups from the SR series.  However, do keep in mind, that small extra amount that they would stick out would allow for a better bass response due to the size of the chamber.  Keeping it within the league of the RS-1/RS-2 means that it is still of a representable size, without being an overly-big cup.

Mundorf 26AWG stranded. Gorgeous stuff, sounds even better. With burn-in this thing should blow away the more expensive Grados in my opinion.
