A chunk of wood, a lathe and chuck, chisels, a drill press, bits, forstner bits, sandpaper, tung oil, lacquer, grille material, a heat gun, a hot glue gun and some patience.

I did a draft of a tutorial in thread in the DIY forum... Should be able to find it without too much effort.

I'm thinking of getting the Senn HD 414 pads (like most people here have) for my SR80. My only concern is the sound. Will it sound different with the 414 pads or will the sound remain the same like the stock pads?

Thanks!

I modified a headband from cheap headset....
make larger hole untill Grado clamp-shaft can make through
then, just fill plastic terminal with hard-foam... act as brake-pad...
so, clamp-shaft won't be slide too easily.....

Now.. Grado feel so comfortable and stable...

the sound definitely changes. i forgot exactly how, but i think it was more bass and less detailed mids/highs

even though i don't use the hd414 pads anymore, i think it was well worth the few bucks to try them out.

I went from comfies to 414 on my MS-1s. The sound became more detailed or clear in comparison to the comfies. Overall a little less laid-back.

No wonder that more and more of our stuff is labelled "made in indonesia", and more and more US/EU jobs get disposed. These bastards have become much too competent!
