They are still next to my PC, but the SFI are not right for this application: they sound pretty awful as they have no bass and require lots of power to reach audible levels. I did not expect much, and did not get much.

actually, it doesn't say "dynamic" at any point.

you won't get much bass because they are tweeters, not woofers. another thing to remember is that they should have a capacitor in parallel with them.

I knew about them being tweeters, and I don't mind having little bass on desktop speakers I mainly use for watching rugby or football matches on my PC.

What about the capacitor though? What is it for?

In this case its a little high. But like its been mentioned a gazzilion times. But please dont post direct ebay links for an active ortho auction. It makes it v.hard for people to get them at good prices on that auction then.

I think the seller has shot himself in the foot with bank transfer only anyway. Since it makes the already high cost even higher....

15-148
PROFESSIONAL SERIES HEADPHONES
Lightweight stereo headphones with Samarium Cobalt magnets. Weight is less than 6.5 oz. for continuous listening. Comes with 7 ft. cord and terminated with a gold 1/4" stereo phone plug.
Specifications:
Impedance......................................... ...... 600Ω Sensitivity....................................... .......... 105 dB
Frequency Range ....................... 18-22,000 Hz Weight............................................ ..... 175 grams
Max. Power Input....................... 3.1v (300mW) Color............................................. ................ Black

These "look" right but the impedance suggest to me that they are dynamic - perhaps not; aren't some of the Russian models high impedance?? - only one way to find out ;-)

let us know when you get them boomy ..dB

Not sure about the capacitor but maybe he means a low pass filter?

The thing is, those headphones look big, and orthos are generally heavier than their dynamic brethren because of their giant magnets. I'm just speculating, though. I don't know for sure, either.

You'll sacrifice nearly everything below 100 Hz for the K250's mids (and highs). It's not an Everyman 'phone.

Yup. But maybe with horn loading, too...

The SFI "bipole" drivers are tweeters, but they're also something more. They're semitweeters. Most tweeters don't have the excursion capability of the SFI bipoles because they don't need it. Why the SFIs have it, I really don't know, but I'm glad they do.

The chances of anything with Calrad on it being an ortho are very small, but you never know.
